Erin Mattei - November 9th

Megan Tumulty - November 27th

If you have not yet submitted your birthday to me, do so by completing this form.

Upload and Merge

Beginning later this week, all librarians will be responsible for uploading their own MARC records. This is SUPER EASY and totally fool-proof. Not that you're a fool...just you can't make a mistake. Click HERE for the video tutorial.

Need Barcodes?

I will be placing a barcode order later this month. If you need more barcodes, complete this form. The minimum quantity is 1,000 and increase in increments of 1,000. Quantities of 500 are no longer available. After this order, I will not place another one until the Spring.

Join/Renew Your TLA Membership!

It is now time to join/renew your membership with TLA. Funds for this will come from your campus dues account.

Follow these steps to complete registration:

  1. From this page, click on "individual membership form" to access the registration PDF
  2. Print and complete the PDF by hand
  3. Scan the PDF to your H drive
  4. In eFinance, create an Alt Pay and attach the completed file

Another option is to join/renew online and pay with your personal money. Then submit a request for a reimbursement for these funds through an Alt Pay.

Please note, if you are going to TLA this year, you MUST be a member of TLA prior to registering for conference so please take care of this ASAP.

Texas Library Snapshot Day

Texas Library Snapshot Day is October 31st. Because of our push with OverDrive this month and next, we are not going to participate as a district in Library Snapshot Day. However, you are welcome to submit your own data and photos. Click HERE for more information about this day and information on submitting results. Later this school year, we will do our own Library Snapshot Day in order to see "A Day in the Life of a Frisco ISD Library." More to come on that!

Add non-Mackin eBooks to MackinVia

I have added the directions on how to add non-Mackin eBooks to MackinVia on the Hub site under Digital Resources. I misspoke in the meeting when I said you needed the MARC record. You need the URL which is in the MARC record.

Also, if you're going to primarily use Follett Shelf on your campus, please let me know so I can make sure to keep your students updated.

OverDrive Promotion Round 1

As a recap from today's meeting....

We will all be promoting OverDrive (and eBooks) between now and November 30th. During this time, we are all going to make a concerted effort to share digital books with students and teachers and take pictures of what you're doing.

Visit the Hub site for ideas and check out this link to our Padlet from today's meeting. Feel free to add more ideas, too!

By December 5th, add a slide to THIS PRESENTATION in which you show at least 3 ways you have promoted OverDrive and eBooks on your campus.

Yay Reading!

Accessing OverDrive:

Students - Student ID

Staff - District username just as it shows up in PAC (either all lowercase or mixed upper and lower - if a teacher cannot access OverDrive look at what his/her username is in PAC)

We're getting Polo shirts and T-shirts!

If you haven't already, click here to let me know what shirt size you would like. An example of the colors is in the presentation from today (linked above). If you would like to try on the shirt you can swing by my office anytime.

eFinance Manual

The most current training manual for eFinance has been posted to the Hub site under "Acquisition of Library Materials." The manual contains everything you need to know about submitting requisitions and also includes important contact information for the various departments within Finance.

Teaching Books

The beginning of the year is a great time to share all of our fabulous resources with your teachers. Consider sharing TeachingBooks.net with them. Check out the Help & Training link at the top of the home page to get started.
