Officer Phil Program (K-4)
The Officer Phil Progam taught our children about stranger danger, the negative effects of bullying, fire safety, internet safety and respect for authority figures. The program also encouraged positive behavior like honesty, friendship, being a buddy not a bully, civic responsibility and knowing what to do in an emergency.
To reinforce what the children learned in the live presentation each child was given a grade specific activity book and other interactive materials to take home.

Update from Mrs. Caruso, School Nurse
Spring allergies have just begun! Seasonal allergies, also known as hay fever or seasonal allergic rhinitis, are allergy symptoms that occur during certain times of the year, usually when outdoor molds release their spores or trees, grasses and weeds release tiny pollen particles into the air to fertilize other plants.
The immune systems of people who are allergic to mold spores or pollen treat these particles (called allergens) as invaders and release chemicals, including histamine, into the bloodstream to defend against them. It’s the release of these chemicals that causes allergy symptoms.
Treatment of seasonal allergies may include over-the-counter use of prescription antihistamines, nasal steroid sprays and decongestants, avoidance of exposure to allergens where possible, not touching the face, and washing hands thoroughly after coming in from the outdoors.
There is no real cure for seasonal allergies, but it is possible to relieve symptoms. Start by reducing or eliminating exposure to allergens. During allergy season, keep windows closed, use air conditioning if possible and change your air filter often.
If reducing exposure to allergens isn’t possible or is ineffective, medication can help ease allergy symptoms. There are many non-drowsy antihistamines, nasal sprays and eye drops available as a prescription and over the counter. Many of these medications can be taken at home once a day prior to coming to school. Please encourage and help your child have symptom relief this allergy season.

5th Grade Parents - Vaccine Information
Dear Parents/Guardians of incoming 6th grade students:
It's hard to believe that your 5th grade student will soon be getting ready to move up to the middle school! Please know that, per NJ State Law, there are vaccination requirements for entering 6th grade. The following two vaccines are required before your child can begin middle school in September:
1. Tdap vaccine
2. Meningococcal vaccine
Please make sure that you obtain proof of these vaccines from your child's physician prior to the start of 6th grade. You will need to provide this information to the middle school nurse.
Thank you.

Join the Hero Squad. Together We Change Cancer.
On Tuesday, a representative from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) visited Lyncrest School to kick off our Pennies for Patients Program. LLS is the world’s largest non-profit health organization dedicated to finding cures for blood cancers. The Pennies for Patients program is for elementary and middle schools that would like to support the mission to create a world without cancer by conducting a fundraising campaign. Student Council members will be collecting coins from the homeroom classes as we raise money for this very deserving cause.
FINAL COIN COLLECTION WILL BE ON 5/4.
