Guided Reading Beyond the Primary Grades
Guided reading is an effective strategy for reading instruction, but what about in the intermediate elementary grades? Guided Reading is the process of teaching students how to process text effectively from the most basic pieces of letter and sounds to the most complex of looking at sentence structure and comprehension. All of these pieces play an integral role in the development of a successful reader. Guided Reading will look differently depending on the student and grade level. The main thing is that you focus on what each student needs, no matter what grade they are in. That is differentiated instruction at its best.
