Welcome Yolanda McKinney - our new Assistant Principal
Dear Families,
It is with great enthusiasm that I write this letter of introduction as the new Assistant Principal of Cesar Chavez. I am incredibly grateful and excited to join the Chavez Family! I look forward to working in partnership with Mrs. Munoz and the staff - to continue the work of advocating for and providing all students and families with an educational experience where values and diversity are celebrated. Before becoming an administrator, I was a classroom teacher for ten years in PPS and an Equity Coach in Vancouver. I have a passion for creating a more equitable future for all students.
On a more personal note, my partner Felton and I enjoy spending time with our three kiddos, Princeton, Elliana, and Felton Jr. We love reading together as a family and visiting family on the East Coast as much as possible.
I am committed to working alongside Mrs. Munoz- as we continue to provide leadership and build a structure of collaborative relationships in the school and community - so that ALL students have a variety of opportunities to succeed! Please know that I value your contribution to your child’s education and firmly believe you are your child’s first and most important teacher. My door will always be open, and I welcome your input as a Chavez parent/guardian. I look forward to meeting and collaborating with each and every one of you and I can’t wait to share all of our wonderful successes with you throughout the upcoming year.
My phone number is 503-916-5666, and you can also reach me by email at ymckinne@pps.net
Kind regards,
Yolanda McKinney
Community Care Day
Project Community Care is a wonderful opportunity for community members to help beautify our school grounds before students return for the school year! Volunteers come together to complete tasks from weeding, to picking up litter, to spreading mulch around flower beds. Together we can grow a sense of community and school stewardship.
Volunteers of all ages are welcome. Your time and energy will make a direct impact on students, families, teachers, and the neighborhood. PPS appreciates all of the effort and enthusiasm that goes into making this event possible!
