Virtual Enrichment Sessions
As we continue to look for ways to better connect with our virtual students, we are monitoring the effectiveness of daily enrichment sessions. Because students are receiving an increased amount of synchronous instruction with their teachers and classmates, attendance at the 1:00 Enrichment Session has become inconsistent and the number of students who are joining is starting to decline.
Beginning next week, the 1:00 Enrichment Session will no longer be held. The 2:30 Enrichment Session WILL still continue. Thank you for your continued partnership through virtual teaching and learning.
Counselor's Corner
Dear HPE families,
Next Friday, November 13th is World Kindness Day! I am challenging our HPE students to perform acts of kindness starting Sunday, November 8th! Attached to this newsletter is a calendar for November that has an act of kindness each day! I can't wait to see how kind all our Patriot students are! Here is a link to a read aloud and my challenge for students.

Also, Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and our efforts to slow the spread, as well as keep our students, staff, families, and community members healthy, HPE will not be providing direct supports for winter/holiday assistance this year. Instead, here are some local assistance programs to consider. (These opportunities are time sensitive and applying sooner than later will increase your chances of having access to the supports.) Good Samaritan Network https://www.gsnlive.org/holiday-assistance Central Indiana Salvation Army- Angel Tree program https://centralusa.salvationarmy.org/indiana/angeltree/ Local Food Pantries https://www.fishers.in.us/1133/Food-Assistance If you are interested in donating for families in need, please consider reaching out to these programs that are accepting donations. HPE Book Fair
Dear HPE Families,
This year our library will be hosting an on-site Follett Book Fair along with an online companion fair. Here are three ways you can participate!
Shop Online
November 9 – December 4
Perfect if you can’t shop our fair in person or have non-local family that would like to participate. In addition to the same great books at our fair, you will find an expanded catalog to shop online.
Code: M47K2
Follett will ship your books to the school after our fair is complete.
Shop Our Fair
November 30 – December 4
Each class will stop by at the beginning of the fair for a preview. Then, students will visit the book fair during their regular library visit with their class to have the opportunity to shop.
Follett gift cards are available to purchase to use at our on-site event.
Visit www.follettbookfairs.com/gift-cards/ to purchase.
Sponsor a Student
Sponsor student participation at the book fair. Depending on your budget, provide multiple gift cards for students who would not be able to purchase something from the fair. You can sponsor a child by purchasing a Follett Book Fair gift card is easy, just go to https://www.giftfly.com/shop/follett-book-fairs, then choose your design and denomination. You can send them directly to our librarian at kmorgan@hse.k12.in.us. These cards will be distributed to teachers to give students in need.
No matter how you choose to shop, all purchases benefit our school library!
Support Our Library
Birthday books with donor plates are also available. You can purchase at any time, even if your child's birthday has passed. Students love seeing their name and friends' names in books in the library.
Click here to donate! Thank you for your support!
Curbside Continues for Virtual Learners
Virtual learners can use HSE Curbside service to borrow books from the library.
Full time virtual students will be able to place 4 books on hold weekly. On Wednesdays between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., I will be leaving out a book cart in the front vestibule. The curbside pick up book cart is organized by grade level. All book stacks will have a name tag to help you get the right one. You can just walk in, grab your book stack, and go. No need to sign in or check in. There will also be a book bin for you to return materials as you finish with them. Make sure to place your holds by noon on Tuesday to allow processing time. Happy reading!

Easy Ways to Help the PTO
Cut your Box Tops for Education and send them to school with your student at any time. Visit www.boxtops4education.com for a list of products.
If you shop on Amazon or at Kroger, check out these completely free and zero effort ways to raise money for the HPE PTO. The prices are the same, the service is the same, you shop the same way, but a portion of the purchase price will be donated to the PTO, that’s it!
On Amazon, just go to smile.amazon.com/ch/20-0114174 to link your account to the PTO and then check out using smile.amazon.com everytime--you cannot access this through an app so fill up your cart and then open a browser to check out or shop directly on smile.amazon.com.
For Kroger, login to your online account or create one using the Kroger Plus Card number you already have or get a new one. Then go to www.kroger.com/communityrewards and enroll in Community Rewards. Search for “VA241” and select “HARRISON PARKWAY ELEMENTARY - PTO.” Then scan your Kroger Plus Card or enter your alternate ID every time you check out just like you always have.
