Spelling Bee - In ELA Classrooms during October

On Saturday, October 15th, our cross country teams travelled to Cochran, Georgia to compete in the Georgia Middle School Cross Country Championship. DCMS Tigers ran well and the girls finished ranked #4 overall for JV and Varsity teams.

On Saturday, October 15th DCMS Tiger Robotics Team travelled to Otwell Middle School where they competed in the FCS Middle School October Competition, which was the first robotics competition of the season. Team 3053A scored an impressive 130 points and finished in first place which qualified them for state competition coming in February. In order to compete at the state level, a team must earn first place in a regular season competition or qualify through a difficult point based system. Hundreds of teams compete to earn one of the coveted 15 qualifying spots. This was our first team to qualify for state and an outstanding accomplishment!

On Monday, October 10th, our chorus joined DCJH and DHS choirs for an incredible performance. The DCMS Acapella Group made its debut after only 5 weeks of practice. Excellent work from all chorus members as well as Ms. Jennifer Palmer.

Report cards will be sent home Monday. Please be sure to check your child's backpack for their report card. You can also view all grades in PowerSchool via the Parent Portal.

Our 5th Annual Fun Run is coming up on October 31st. This is our only school-wide fundraiser. An orange information sheet was sent home with each student on October 4th. Additional copies are located in the front office. Below is a link if you would like to print an additional copy.

Ms. Taylor Greene and the DCMS News Crew have been working hard to produce daily news live broadcasts every morning!

Representatives from Amicalola EMC awarded Ms. Kristin Smith with a Bright Ideas Grant!

Students in Ms. Sarah Cushanick's class were learning about cell system with Legos!

Auto Craze Car Wash surprised our teachers and staff with a gift certificate!

After school tutoring will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting September 20th. Tutoring will start at 3:00 and end at 4:00 PM. All students participating in after school tutoring must have transportation home at 4:00:PM. Please let us know if your child is coming to tutoring by completing the sign-off below.

During the month of October, our Student Council is collecting new socks to be donated to shelters that provide support for families in need. We need children to adult sizes. The homeroom in 6th and 7th that bring in the largest number of socks will receive a Chick-fil-A chicken biscuit. Donations can be turned in to each homeroom teacher.

DCMS will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week October 24th-28th, 2022.

This year's theme is Celebrate Life, Drug Free!

DCMS Book Fair -October 28th-November 4th

The DCMS Book Fair will be held on October 28th- November 4th. Please look for a brochure to come home with each student this week. Parents can get a jump on purchasing at the fair by setting up a Book Fair eWallett! The book fair will be open for online purchases on October 28th.

A classroom signup form will be also be sent out to teachers next week!

Mark your calendars for October 28th! The DCMS PTSO will host our annual Halloween Dance, immediately following school from 3:30-5pm. More information to come!

6th grade hearing and vision screenings will be wrapping up soon! The clinic will only reach out to parents if their child has failed any portion of the screening.

Flu clinic is almost here! The Flu clinic will be held on Wednesday October 12th, 2022.

Help a child smile bus is coming to DCMS! The bus will be here on Friday October 28th, 2022. If you would like to sign your child up for this amazing service please visit, www.MySchoolDentist.com , and fill out the form.

On Fridays, the PBIS Snack Cart will return! Students can bring cash to purchase snacks and drinks during Tiger Time. All proceeds will go to benefit our PBIS program!
