Collin College DC Update
October 22, 2020
Headed into 2nd Nine Weeks!
CC Spring 2021 Dual Credit Registration Timeline and Details
- All Spring 2021 campus-based sections will be 100% asynchronous online instruction; Preston Ridge Campus sections will be blended, just like this fall.
- Collin Counselors are sending applicable Course Registration Numbers (CRNs) directly to students, after they receive completed HS permission forms.
- Oct 27th: CC Spring 2021 DC Registration Opens
- Early Registration from Oct. 27 - Nov. 13 at 4 PM. This will guarantee students a spot in a spring section that pairs with their fall enrollment!
- After 4 PM on the 13th, we will not guarantee that students in a campus section will still be able to have a spot there--they may have to go to a blended course at PRC, or vice versa.
- Students will still be asked to only register for CRNs designated as dual credit sections.
- To request a switch of your dual credit learning environment, you must fill out this request form. Please note: If you are approved for a change, your CCC will send you new CRNs. For questions, email Mrs. Sellers (SellersS@friscoisd.org).
- November 20th @ 4 PM: Spring 2021 High School Permission Form deadline
- December 2nd @ 4 PM: Spring 2021 Registration and Payment deadline

Krystal Sanders - Collin Counselor for Heritage and Independence
I am Krystal Sanders, the College and Career Counselor for Heritage and Independence High School. It gives me an immense amount of pleasure to serve in this capacity as a resource to aid students as they prepare for the next phase of their lives. For I do not take this opportunity for granted as I realize that I have the power to help shift the trajectory of one’s life.
Although I graduated high school in the top of my class, I was completely lost when it came to navigating my college pathway. I was blessed to be able to attend Jackson State University where I received my Bachelors in Business Management. During that time, I was intricately involved in every facet of campus life. After graduating with my bachelors, I obtained my Masters Degree in Technology Education from JSU. A few years later, I received my MBA in Computer Information Systems from Delta State University.
My career in Higher Education started 12 years ago when I began working for Tougaloo College. I have been with Collin College for almost 7 years. I am privileged to have served in this capacity since the inception of this program almost 4 years ago. I was the College and Career Counselor at Wakeland and Lone Star High Schools for the last three years.
I have worked in both public and private sectors of higher education. I have served on admissions committees, scholarship committees, advisory committees and as a campus mentor. I am able to take my expertise and apply it to my work daily. I am a researcher by nature so I am always looking for new trends, policies and laws in higher education.
I enjoy spending time with family and reading. My 8 year old son, Treyson, and my 2 year old niece, Rylie, are my world. I also love to give back to the community. Over the last 6 years, I have done so by providing free hair braiding services for foster children here in Collin County. My favorite quote and one that I strive to live by is, “If I can help somebody as I pass along, then my living shall not be in vain.”
Who is My Collin College & Career Counselor (CCC)?
In the coming newsletters, we will highlight our other fabulous CCCs! And, we are so lucky to have them! The CCCs work with our high school students regarding general questions about college and financial aid, as well as specific questions about Collin College's dual credit process. From applications to registration to successful course completion, these are our go-to people for college and career questions.

Charlene Martin (martincha@friscoisd.org): Memorial, Lone Star, Centennial

US History EOC Exam for HIST 1302 Students
The FISD EOC Testing Calendar was shared with the district last month, and the December US History EOC administration for our DC students enrolled in HIST 1302 is on Wednesday, December 9th at 9 AM. We understand that this is during Collin’s Finals Week. We are communicating with our HIST 1302 students regarding this conflict, as well as with our campus counselors and testing facilitators.
If a student has a conflict with a final exam and the EOC, then the student will attend their Collin final and make-up their US History EOC on either Thursday AM or Friday AM. If a student has a conflict all week, which would be highly unusual, then we will work with the student to resolve that issue on an individual basis.
If a student does not have a conflict and chooses not to take the US History EOC exam this week, then the student's Spring 2021 dual credit participation will be revoked.
