Over the Summer: Teacher Assignment Changes

Principals would like to give a giant THANK YOU to our teachers for making this year of Virtual Academy and Hybrid Model learning work. Many of our teachers are taking on a new role of becoming a Virtual Academy teacher or teaching a new grade level in the Hybrid Model to accommodate the changes that are necessary during this pandemic. We hope that our families will make our teachers feel appreciated, as well.

August 4: Registration for All

As part of our annual registration process, we ask you to update data and review policies. You can do this in the Aeries Parent Portal Starting Tuesday, August 4th. You can review the directions for this process here: https://www.lcusd.net/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=438783&type=d&pREC_ID=949744

The tech department has prepared a short video walkthrough on the district's website and most of your questions will be answered by watching that. Your task is to review the data, make updates, and review all school policies.

If you are a new family, you may have received an email from LCUSDonline@lcusd.net or will on Monday. If you find yourself needing assistance, please email portalhelp@lcusd.net

August 5 or 6: AM or PM Assignments

Depending on if your principals and office managers are all caught up on building new rosters for AM and PM cohorts for both Virtual Academy and Hybrid Model learning, you will receive your assignment and have some time to make plans before the first day of school. If you filled out the questionnaire sent out a couple of weeks ago, your principals read each and every submission. We had 75% of families that preferred the AM schedule, and (obviously) that doesn't work. As a result, not everyone got their preference. We wish to thank you for understanding how difficult the placement process has been. By this date, we hope you will have already gone through the annual registration process! You will see your child's assignment in the AERIES portal.

August 13: Teacher Assignments Posted

You may want to visit the portal again to see which teacher will be teaching your child's class on this day. Let the texting begin (but please do not try to make a last minute change - it won't happen). Assignments are typically posted at 5:00 p.m.

August 14: New Family Meet and Greet

5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. - Welcome, new families! This includes all of our new TK through 6th grade families. On this day, you will log in to another virtual meeting and meet your new principal, PTA president, and other new families! This event is for adults and students. We will be breaking out in groups so that our families can meet other families in the same grade level, ask questions, and have some fun. Look for more information from LCE, PCR, and PCY. Your invitation is coming soon!

August 17: The First Day of School

By this day, you will know exactly what to do to log on or help your child log on to the first day of school. Remember, your school staff is just as excited, nervous, and happy as you are! Here is what your teachers are thinking:

I will teach you in a room.
I will teach you now on zoom.
I will teach you in your house.
I will teach you with a mouse.
I will teach you here and there.
I will teach you because I care.

So just do your very best.
And do not worry about the rest.
