Another Great Year In the Books
Trees for Threes
The second graders from Mrs. Dixon's homeroom applied for the THREES FOR TREES program through ATC (American Transmission Company) and the Milwaukee Bucks (https://www.nba.com/bucks/trees). The partnership is committed to creating more green spaces in Wisconsin. Through the new Trees for Threes program, the Bucks and ATC sponsored the planting of a new tree in Wisconsin for every 3-pointer the Bucks hit at home this season. Glenwood is receiving two of these. We are excited to plant the new trees and contribute to the green space at Glenwood.
Moving On Up Day
Our 5th graders were able to practice their kickball skills during this time in preparation for the staff and student game. Mr. Michuda and Mr. Gonzales facilitated this game.
We hope this day generates some excitement for next year! There a few pictures below of the day.

A Milwaukee Brewer Visited Glenwood
Milwaukee Brewer, Brent Suter, a pitcher, came to visit Glenwood today. Our first graders sent him a book and a message via Twitter to let him know what they were doing. He was so inspired by our students, he personally wanted to make a visit to say thank you! Great job first grade team!

Summer Smores
Please look for my Smore newsletter this summer. It will not come out each week, but I plan on sending out a few this summer to keep everyone up to date on anything new. I will also be reminding you about important dates this fall, including Open House. Please feel free to contact me this summer if you have any questions. The best way to contact me is by email at snewcomer@greenfield.k12.wi.us
Best of luck to all of our 5th graders moving on to middle school. I know each and everyone of our students will make us proud in the future!

Summer Math Challenge
For the past three years, the Summer Math Challenge has been something we did at Glenwood to help students engage in math related thinking over the summer months. The challenge is very simple and includes a variety of ways to meet the challenge - by playing games using cards or dice, playing board games, number puzzles, online games, reading counting books, counting objects or any other activity that gets our math brains working - at least 20 times over the summer. Parents just need to initial the date on the Summer Math Challenge Calendar.
New this year, Edgewood Elementary has challenged us to see which school can get more students to complete the challenge! It's their first time doing the challenge so Glenwood has an advantage. In fall, return the initialed calendar to your teacher. We will have a simple celebration for those who've completed the challenge! We'll announce the winning school in September.
Most of all, this should be a fun time doing things we maybe never even realized were mathematical. The website below supports the Summer Math Challenge but it is NOT necessary to have a computer to participate. This site is also accessible on each elementary building's web page under Learning Resources. Most of all, have fun!
