Swansboro High School
Weekly Updates September 20, 2020
Happy Sunday Pirates!
We hope you are enjoying your weekend and this glorious Carolina weather. Last week was another great week at Swansboro High School. Parents and students should note an important policy update this week. Students who have an 'A' average in non-state tested courses will be eligible for an exam exemption starting this semester. Note that this does not apply to EOC and CTE courses. This new policy is a result of North Carolina eliminating state final exams in non-EOC courses. EOC courses include Math 1, Math 3, Biology, English 2 and Career and Technical Education classes.
Parents of seniors - we need baby pictures for the yearbook. Please email Mrs. Sheehan at Ellen.Sheehan@onslow.k12.nc.us by October 2, 2020. Underclassmen school pictures (9th-11th grade) are this week. Cohort A on Monday and Cohort B on Friday during Refresh. Remember that students need to have their pictures taken to appear in the yearbook.
Connected students are successful students! Future Teachers of America, Foreign Language and ECO Club are currently hosting membership drives. There is literally something for everyone and joining a club will not only help you make friends and have fun but also looks great on college and scholarship applications.
The Swansboro community is joining together to support Baldwin County in Alabama. They had devastating damage from Hurricane Sally and are in need of supplies such as tarps, ziploc bags, toothpaste, hygiene kits, paper products and utensils, diapers and dog food. Items can be dropped off at the Swansboro Rotary Club this week. Donations will be delivered to their community in Alabama on Saturday, September 26, 2020.
