World's Fair Thank you!

Thanks to all our families who came out to enjoy an evening of fun and games at our 3rd annual GLC World's Fair! Having an opportunity to be together as a community is what the event is all about.


We'd like to send a special thank you to all of our families, staff, and high school volunteers who volunteered to staff games and crafts. Clearly, we couldn't do it without you!


Thanks, too, to all the parents who brought candy and stickers; who came early to set up; who brought baskets for our Tricky Tray; who helped organize pizza and ice; who ensured we had all the materials we needed; and more! It takes a team to make this event happen.

Classified Staff Appreciation Week

This week we are celebrating Classified Staff Appreciation Week. Classified staff includes paraprofessionals, general activities aides, office staff, cafeteria staff, as well as our BIT, librarian, and custodian. About half of the personnel on campus each day are classified staff. Our classified staff performs essential work and we would not be a school without them! Please don't hesitate to shout out an extra thanks to our classified staff this week!

State Testing Continues (Gr 3-8)

This week, state testing will continue for any students who have not finished their required assessments. Grade 8 students will also take the CA Science Test (CAST) this week.


Here are some are important preparations that students and families can do to ensure students are prepared to do their best.

  • Bring their Chromebook FULLY CHARGED to school
  • Get a good night's rest
  • Eat a good breakfast
  • Arrive at school on time


Parents can also help by encouraging their children to do their best! Encourage your child to do their best on every item and not to give up. Students can get partial credit for multi-step problems by doing what they can on each question!


Most ELA and Math assessments will be completed this week. Science and make-up tests will continue to be administered throughout May. Thank you for your support in ensuring your child does his/her best on the state assessments!

Enrollment for 2022-23

We are continuing to accept applications for the 2022-23 school year. If space is not available in your child’s grade, she/he will be placed on a waiting list by grade level. Seats will be offered on a first-come, first-serve, basis. If you have friends or family who may be interested in attending GLC, please share this information with them. While we have waitlists at some grade levels, we still have openings at a few grade levels. Applications are available on our website and in our front office.

Expanding access to Transitional Kindergarten

For the 2022-23 school year, the state of California is expanding access to transitional kindergarten programs. Students who will turn five by February 2nd, 2023, are eligible to enroll in universal transitional kindergarten (UTK). This is a new optional grade that precedes Kindergarten. Parents may opt to enroll their child in preschool or UTK. If you have a child who will turn 5 by 2/2/23 and would like her/him to attend GLC, please complete an Enrollment Requiest Form. More information about GLC's UTK program to come soon!

Homework Help!

The VUSD After-hours Academic Assistance (AAA) program is available to all VUSD students grades K-12 at no charge, four evenings a week. Homework assistance is led by certificated VUSD teachers. For more information and to access the tutoring Zoom links, visit: www.vusd.org/aaa.
