Muskego Lakes Family Newsletter
November 2018
Thank You!
We look forward to the weeks and months ahead and wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!
How well is your child learning?
As part of the process, we determined that there are many ways to deliver this feedback.
Teacher Delivered Feedback - Traditionally feedback on student learning comes from the teacher and is given directly to parents.
- Infinite Campus App - App parents can use to get notifications on tardies, grades, missing assignments etc. The Campus Parent and Campus Student apps are available for download. App Store: click HERE. / Google Play: click HERE.
- Report cards - The traditional way that feedback has been delivered from school to families.
- Positive messages home- Phone calls, email, notes, personal conversations, etc... are also ways that we can share details about your child's progress.
- Parent-Teacher Conferences - Conferences are another opportunity to share how your child is progressing through the skills and topics they are working on.
- Assignment Notebooks- All students are expected to use their assignment notebooks daily. So, partner with us by asking to see your child's assignment notebook to know what homework they have and what learning is ahead.
- Learner Profiles & Online Portfolios - This communication tactic will ask students to share their online learner profile or portfolio with their parents. This will allow for an in-depth discussion that will give you more insight into your child's understanding.
- Students emailing families - Teachers may give students the opportunity to communicate with you directly via email. This communication could share progress they are making, good news about a test, or information about additional learning opportunities they may want to take advantage of.
- Google Classroom - Classroom tool teachers use to keep students up-to-date on learning. Students can share updates in Google Classroom with families to let them know what is going on in their classes.
- Learner Profiles- Your child has a learner profile in his/her Google drive. Please ask your child to see it to learn more about who they are as a learner.
PBIS at Muskego Lakes
Muskego Lakes is a PBIS school. PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports. Use the link below to learn more about our PBIS program.
Pie in the Face Food Drive
November 12th - 16th, Muskego Lakes students will have the opportunity to help the Muskego Food Pantry and have some fun doing it! Here's how students can help out...
Step 1
Bring in either 2 non-perishable goods or $1 to lunch
Step 2
For every 2 items or $1 donated, students get a slice of pie. They will determine which teacher they want to “give” a slice of pie to!
Step 3
As the week goes on, watch as each teacher's pie dish fills up with more and more slices.
The teacher/staff member with the MOST pieces of pie at the end of the week will get a pie in the face from one lucky student!
Christmas Clearinghouse
The Christmas Clearing Council of Waukesha County has been providing Christmas gifts for children of families in need since 1949. Families who qualify for free and/or reduced lunch may apply. Honor Levels
We are excited to share our ML Honor Levels, a restorative system of practices that are new at ML. The purpose is to rally all students around our Musky P.R.I.D.E. expectations:
Promoting…
Repsect
Integrity
Determination
Engagement
The expectations for each of the pillars are aon our matrix and focus on skills that make students good community members both in and out of school, both now and in the future. Check them out HERE .
Our Honor Levels are tied to each Quarter Celebration Days. Throughout each quarter, students have the opportunity to restore their Honor Level so they can attend the Quarter Celebration. Our Quarter 1 Celebration for 5th and 6th graders is at Sky Zone Trampoline Park, and our 7th & 8th Grade Celebration is at Comedy Sportz and a dance at MLMS.
For additional details including infractions, how your child can remain at Honor Level 1, how he/she can move back to Honor Level 1, and requirements for attending each Quarter’s Celebration Day, please view this short VIDEO.
Also, if you know that your child has received multiple tardies (available to view on IC), a TAB out, or office referral, please partner with us by encouraging your child to complete an Honor Level Restoration Plan as soon as possible. Restoration Plans not completed by November 9th will result in the student not earning that quarter’s Celebration Day.
