FRESHMEN, SOPHOMORES & JUNIORS: 2019-20 Course Selection Kick-Off!

School counselors will meet with freshmen, sophomores and juniors this week in assemblies to review the course selection process.

If students have not accessed their student portal account to date, they will receive an email with their user ID and instructions on how to access it. If students logged in previously but do not remember username or password, they should email their counselor.

Please note: Students must use their student portal account in order to sign up for classes. It is not available through a parent’s account.

If you want to take a course different than what was recommended, you must pick up a waiver form from the counseling office and submit it to your counselor before the change can be made. Students in grades 9 and 10 will meet with their counselor individually in advisory. Students in grade 11 will receive an appointment to review credits for graduation, finalize course selection and discuss post- secondary plans. An appointment time was emailed and mailed through regular mail. Parents are invited to attend.

To plan for their meetings, students should review the Program of Studies available on our school’s website, under Guidance Department on the left hand side, scroll to the bottom where you’ll see Program of Studies. They should take a look at course prerequisites and if a course requires a teacher recommendation. Students should also choose backups for their first choice of electives. Click on the button below to learn more about the Course Selection process.

The panel, made up of students attending various-size public and private colleges/universities and having recently completed their first semester of college, answered the essential question: "What do you wish you had known before college?" to an attentive audience.

  2. When filling out scholarship applications - read & follow all instructions carefully - incomplete or incorrect scholarship applications are usually not considered.
  3. Do not wait until the day of the scholarship deadline to request official transcripts or letters of recommendation from Mrs. Shaffer. Completed scholarship applications requiring supplemental items must be dropped off in the Career Center three school days BEFORE the scholarship deadline.
  4. Keep your eye out for local scholarships in Naviance - items are being added almost daily.
