MISSION CELLARS WINERY
Newsletter for September 2021
What's happening at The Mission?
The Winemaker has been busy bottling our new "1589 Wine." It's the Pineau Des Charentes that I've mentioned in past Newsletter issues. It's finally bottled and will be on the menu in the next couple weeks. We've also bottled our new version of Steam Engine Red Blend, the Number 1 Red Blend and the new Bourbon Barrel Malbec. We used a Primitivo for our last Bourbon Barrel Blend but Trent felt the flavor profile was better fitted to a Malbec. It's delicious, so you can be the judge.
In the 2021 Toast of the Coast Wine Competition, beside winning 3 DOUBLE GOLD MEDALS, we also won a couple of "Director's Awards." The Director's Awards we won were BEST PETITE SIRAH and BEST DESERT WINE for our Madeira. There were about 6oo wines entered in the competition so we did really well, especially for our first year. Congrats to Trent and the wine making team.
As Frank Sinatra used to say "It's was a very good year......"
Greg handles it well.....
Here he is shoveling grapes into the crusher. Greg comes over frequently to help us with wine processing tasks. Thanks Greg - we appreciate your help! What a guy!!
Trent and Greg celebrating after they finished crushing the Verdelho Grapes. From there, the juice went immediately into the fermentation cycle. No skins in this one - just the juice.
Trent checking out the harvested grapes.
Looking good! These are Verdelho Grapes. Trent is making a new batch of Madeira with them.
Greg handles it well.....
Our August Burger Night was a huge success and we can't wait to do it again.
The next one is scheduled for Friday, September 17th.
Greg Filhart from Filhart Beef will be manning the BBQ on our patio. He'll be offering grilled hamburgers, beef and pork brauts and chips. Greg will be serving from 4 to 8PM that day. Get yourself a delicious burger and glass of some tasty from Mission Cellars and you'll be in Pig Heaven!!
