The Latest & Greatest From San Fernando Sylmar CoS 2021 V2N4
Message from Eduardo Solórzano, CoS Administrator
Greetings San Fernando-Sylmar Families,
I hope this message continues to find you safe, in good health, and ready for the winter season. I want to express great appreciation to our school community of students, parents, teachers, staff, and leaders. With your collaboration, we are successfully completing our first semester of in-person learning under strict Covid-19 protocols. Under the most challenging circumstances, our schools have demonstrated perseverance and delivered quality standards-based instruction for all our students. We are looking forward to next semester to continue working together to build a brighter future for our students.
Our CoS wishes you and your family a restful and safe holiday season! Wishing you a prosperous New Year. Enjoy the winter break and we look forward to seeing you in 2022!
School Highlight
Harding Elementary
Nestled on the edge of the Angeles Forest in Sylmar, Harding Street Elementary School is a close-knit community of learners and leaders. Since 1965, our students, parents, and staff have worked collaboratively to develop the academic, social, moral, ethical, and leadership values which students will need to become successful contributing members of society in an ever-changing and technological world.
Our talented staff collaborates with each other to provide a strong educational foundation that fosters academic as well as personal successes. Due to our dedicated staff’s efforts and our hard-working students, we were awarded the title of “California Distinguished School” in 2018 for our academic growth and continued excellence.
Harding recently welcomed our newest leader, Mrs. Norma Alvarez as principal in September. She has stepped in and gracefully transitioned as an effective leader to help us continue the vision we have as a school. Under her leadership, she has already worked collaboratively with staff to offer interventions and supports for our students, as well as create a nurturing environment where all stakeholders are valued and heard.
Together, the Harding community is working to help our students become college and career-ready, as well as to become well-rounded individuals who will have the confidence and knowledge to pursue their dreams.
