The TIGER Times
Yamhill Carlton High School
Week of May 20-24
Parents and Guardians,
There are 3 1/2 weeks left in the school year. This is a great time to have a sit down meeting with your student and check out their JumpRope and put a plan in place if needed. More than likely your student knows what they are missing and what needs to be accomplished, but the practice of talking through it helps make it more real. Of course if you have questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to your student's teachers for additional information.
We hope to see you tomorrow night at our Academic Night which starts at 7:00 pm in the YC Gym. We will be recognizing our students for their academic efforts this past year. See below for more information.
Sincerely,
Cindy Schubert

NEWS FROM ASPIRE -- WHERE YOU’LL FIND MENTORS DEVOTED TO HELPING YOU CREATE AND CUSTOMIZE YOUR CAREER AND COLLEGE PLAN
All Students/Parents--Check Out Information Below
1). It’s the time of year when two very important tasks need tending by Seniors in ASPIRE.
a. Seniors MUST complete the ASPIRE exit survey – which literally takes a few minutes. HERE IS THE LINK TO IT. This can be done on computer or phone. There is also a shortcut to the survey on the desktop of the computers in ASPIRE. When you submit your survey, it pays forward – helping to ensure ASPIRE is funded next year. Your comments also help ASPIRE improve how it can help students in the future. Thank you!

b. If you’ve attended Senior Assemblies in the past, you’ll recall that the graduates are recognized and honored for the scholarships and grants they have received to help pay for college. We will begin collecting that info from you THIS WEEK. Please remember to check or have on hand your Student Aid Report from FAFSA and the financial aid offers you’ve received from ALL colleges where you applied.
2.) Juniors and sophomores: Portland State is holding a five-day immersion Summer Business Institute for multicultural and under-represented CURRENT sophomore and junior students who are interested in studying business. July 29-Aug. 2. One elective college credit will be given to participants. $50 program fee with on-campus housing in dorm. Deadline is July 12; however spaces are limited, so apply early. Info at https://www.pdx.edu/sba/summer-business-institute
4.) All students: Did you know that there is an epic need in Oregon for diverse and skilled workers in the trades? To learn more, please stop by ASPIRE and pick up a copy of “Building Futures” magazine Spring/Summer 2019 edition.
5.) NEW SCHOLARSHIP: Mahin and Saifulla Salemy High School Scientific Scholarship. $1,000. Deadline May 31. Apply online at:https://www.drsalemy.com/scholarship.
6.) SENIORS: If it’s not there yet, PLEASE add your name and college on the “We Got In!” poster next to the ASPIRE Office.
