Changes to the KA Classroom
I just wanted to take a second to reach out and inform you of the current situation in the KA classroom, as I know there may be questions. My name is Nick Padilla, and due to unforeseen circumstances I am currently taking over as the lead teacher in the KA classroom for the remainder of the year. A little about me, I am in my second year as a teacher at Brooklyn Prospect, though I have been a part of the school since its start. Before my time in KA I was teaching 3rd grade, and a teacher to several brothers and sisters of KA students. We are in the process of setting up a meet and greet for all Kindergarten parents who may have any more questions or who would just like to meet face to face to get to know me a little more. The date has not been set for this yet, but we will reach out when one is determined.
In terms of a coteacher, Mrs. Marin is currently in the classroom with us and will continue through the remainder of January. We are currently in the process of finding a permanent coteacher who will be with us for the rest of the year. Again we will reach out with more information as soon as it is available.
I understand that this transition is very sudden and may be leaving your Kindergartener with many emotions and questions. I encourage you to reach out with any questions you or they may have. We have been talking about it in class and will continue have open discussions over the course of the next few weeks to aide them with the transition. Below is a letter from Ms. Lawrence to the parents of KA. Again, please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have.
Sincerely,
Nick Padilla
A Letter from Ms. Lawrence
Dear KA Families!
First, thank you so much for your support and warm thoughts throughout the last few weeks. It has been a pleasure receiving your warm wishes and words of support. I am writing to let you know that due to unexpected medical concerns, I will be stepping away from KA for the remainder of the year. Nick Padilla will continue to be the lead teacher in the classroom for the rest of the year. While I am saddened to be away from such a wonderful community, I know that KA will be well taken care of with Nick. He is a wonderful teacher who will nurture and support your child's academic and social emotional growth.
I will still be at BPCS filling a variety of roles in our school. I look forward to seeing you and your child throughout different times of the day, and for the rest of the school year.
It has been such a pleasure to get to know you and your child for the first part of the year, and I am excited to continue watching them grow and finish Kindergarten.
With Love,
Tiffany
