Death over Dinner - Part 2
Death Over Dinner is a 4-part series of conversations with Rabbi David Baum and fellow community members over dinner. Death Over Dinner is part of a national project to discuss one of the most difficult conversations to have: death.
ASK YOURSELF THE FOLLOWING QUESTION:
Describe your ideal death. Where are you? Who is with you? What are you doing?
Join us on Tuesday, January 21 at 7 pm for a conversation on how we end our lives. We will discuss Jewish sources on the subject taught by Rabbi David Baum and hear from hospice chaplain for Vitas Healthcare, Rabbi Edward Bernstein. You can sign up for the three remaining sessions, or one session at a time.
Why the dinner table? We have found that the dinner table is one of the most forgiving places for difficult conversations. The ritual of breaking bread slows us down. It creates warmth and connection, and puts us in touch with our humanity.
During this series, we will speak frankly and soulfully about death. We will have this vital conversation before it is too late. The course will be geared around the questions and concerns
that the class has about death and dying.
Possible topics include: Ethical Wills, Death and Dying in the digital age, Jewish mourning and burial practices, Jewish innovations for the end of life, and/or Judaism and the afterlife.
Dates: January 14, 21 February 4, 11
Time: 7:00-8:30 PM (each class is 1.5 hrs)
Cost: Register for the entire session for $80, or $25 per each class
(Cost includes Dinner)
