2nd Step: Ways to Solve Kid-Size Problems

This week we discussed 3 ways to solve "kid-size" problems: use your words, ignore, or walk away.

Math: Place Value

This week we participated in a few of the Real World Experience Tasks. With their table teams, students pulled cubes out of a bag. They each counted their own. Then they counted their total. With the total, the needed to decided how many containers would be needed to carry the cubes if only 10 cubes could be in each container.

Please see Friday Folders for various activities you can do with your child at home to better understand place value.

Social Studies: Scholastic News

This week in Scholastic News we read all about George Washington. After we read about him, we summarized these ideas and put them into our own words in writing.

Buddy Time

We traveled down to the 5th grade classrooms for buddies. We talked to them about the facts we just learned about George Washington and then colored some pictures together!

Our special book boxes are filling up with all our "Stories in a Series" writing. By now we each have 3-5 adventures/books about our special character!

Reading: More Adventures of SuperKids

A packet full of connecting activities has been sent home in this week's Friday Folder for Unit 1 of "More Adventures of the Superkids".

Memory words: down, too, work, many, first

Spelling pattern: words that end with y can said "i", "e", or "a" (cry, empty, play)
