First Battle of Saratoga
On September 19,1777, the first Battle of Saratoga took place. The battle started when General Burgoyne launched three-column attack General Horatio Gates. A group of sharpshooters harassed the British, while the other colonist charged into battle with them. The British won a small victory.
Second Battle of Saratoga
The second Battle of Saratoga caused a major turning point in the American Revolution. The second battle took place on October 7,1777. Burgoyne's attack on the colonist began at 3 PM. His attempts failed several times. Gates army soon surrounded Burgoyne's and forced them to surrender themselves prisoners of war.
Victory!
Ever since this victory it gave the French the confidence to become allies with the colonists. They provided the colonists with a generous amount of weapons and fought battles with the colonies. This battle was an amazing success for the colonies .
