First Grade E-Learning Academy
We are greatly missing all of our students and wanted to make sure that they are still growing at home without us. Below we have supplied some at home learning activities.
We are missing them so much that we would love pictures of them learning and having fun. We are challenging you and your student to send a picture daily of your student learning, and in return I will send back a picture of myself and what is going on at my home!
We will have "office hours" for you. Our office hours will be 8-11 a.m. and 12-3 p.m. This is when you can contact us with any questions you may have. We will try our best to reply promptly. You can reach us via email (or Class Dojo for Mrs. Flowers/Remind for Mrs. Karr).

Ready Reading Packet
This packet is for review so your student should be able to answer the questions with very little help. If they have a question, ask them to read the question to you.
These packets can be printed if you have a printer, although they are a little lengthy. If not printed, students can easily read from the online document and answer questions on paper.
(Not to be done all in one day. Take your time and really work through these.) Click on the link below for the Ready Reading Packet.
iReady Assigned Lessons
The following lessons have been assigned to the students. These are skills we would be covering in class.
*Gather information from words and pictures

iReady Assigned Lessons
The following lessons have been assigned to the students. These are skills we would be covering in class.
*Divide shapes into two equal parts
*Divide shapes into four equal parts
*Divide shapes into two/four equal parts
Suggested Hands On Activities
*create a matching game - cut paper into squares, draw shapes divided into equal parts. Play memory by flipping over all of the pieces. One person turns over two "cards", if the divided parts are equal the player keeps the match.
*cut food into equal parts - eating a sandwich, cut it into 2 or 4 equal parts; eating a cookie, cut it into 2 equal parts
*use play dough - if you have play dough at home (no need to go purchase), roll out play dough and cut out shapes, practice dividing shapes into equal parts and non equal parts.
Science/Social Studies Corner
During your scavenger hunt, discuss the direction you are going - turn left, go north, the new budding flower is on the east side of my yard. In Social Studies, we are studying cardinal directions. Create a compass rose together as an art project.
Specialized Instruction
Sight Words
When growing our reading skills we often focus on our Sight Words. Sight words cannot be sounded out phonetically. We want our Pirate learners to continue progressing in their reading skills. Below you will find a few links to free online games as well as activities you can do at home.
Sight Word Flash Cards - if you do not have any already, create a set of cards of your choosing and have your child practice reading them to you.
Sight Word Bingo - everyone loves a good game of Bingo! Create your own bingo cards and call out words to them to find!
I Spy Sight Words - use your flash cards and place them around the room. Tell your child the word to look or and have them collect the word and bring it back to you.

Fact Fluency
To help our Pirate Learners with their computational skills we practice our fact fluency. This could be as simple as giving your child two numbers to add together. This one is a little more easy as you don't actually have to have supplies, just a little conversation. However, there are some activities we can do!
Fact Fluency with cards - use a deck of cards to work on fact fluency. Flip two cards over and have your child add them together. You can even work on subtraction, just make sure the larger number is first.
Fact Scavenger Hunt - create little cards with math problems on them. Place them on the floor or the table. Give your child the answer and have them find the math problem that matches. You could also lay out cards from a deck and give your child the math problem and have them find the answer to the problem.
