CANVAS UPDATE
If your scholar gets kicked out of their Zoom meeting, please have your scholar email their teacher to let them know AND then complete the assignment that is in their Canvas classroom. In addition, your scholar can make an appointment to meet with their teacher during the Learning Options time after 12:30 pm, Tuesday - Friday. That's a great way to stay caught up!
Thank you again for your patience! We are all learning!
VIRTUAL SCHEDULE
Thank you for taking time to keep your scholar on track with our virtual schedule. We know it is hard to manage a household and be sure that your scholar is getting to their classes. One suggestion is to have them set their alarm for the start time of every period so it reminds them to log in. They can even use the settings on their Chromebook to set reminders. How cool is that!?
Here are some items that might need clarification:
- On Mondays, scholars see ALL of their teachers. This is a long day. They should be logging into their Canvas account and checking into each of their classes. Where the schedule says Periods 4/5 - that means if a scholar is 6th or 7th grade, they will attend their 5th period class. If a scholar is an 8th grader, they will attend their 4th period class. Lunch is build in at a separate time. We wanted to give everyone enough time to get out to RMMS to pick up food for a few days.
- On Tuesday - Friday, the afternoon is set aside for independent practice as well as other Learning Options. Scholars can make appointments with their teachers as well as teachers can schedule small group instruction or tutorials at this time. Make sure your scholar takes advantage of this time with their teacher - especially if they are struggling.

When we return to school, if a scholar shows any symptoms of COVID-19, we will be contacting you to pick them up immediately. This is for everyone's safety. If you are unsure about how to do this, please contact the front office for assistance. 760-631-4500

IMPORTANT - IMMUNIZATION UPDATE
Hello Rancho Minerva families! We are very excited to start a new school year here at RMMS, and we want to continue to ensure that your families remain healthy. This is especially important in uncertain times such as these. In order to reduce community outbreaks of additional viruses, the California Department of Health is maintaining current immunization requirements for school entry. This means that before your child can begin virtual or in-person classes on Tuesday, September 8th, they will need to be up-to-date on all of their vaccinations. If your child is going into 7th grade or is an incoming 6th grader, please upload their most current immunization records in the parent portal document tab in Aeries. We are aware that this function was temporarily disabled, but have been informed that it is now operational. If you are still unable to upload documents in Aeries, you may submit them in the following ways:
E-mail documents to: jeanieschexnayder@vistausd.org
Parents or physicians may fax to the RMMS Health Office Fax Confidential Line: 760-940-9063
Call to make an appointment to drop off records in person: 760-631-4500 xt 64013
***If for some reason you are unable to obtain immunizations before the school start date, please contact the health office at the above number as soon as possible.***

If a student cannot receive a vaccination, a parent or guardian must submit a signed, written statement from a physician (MD or DO) licensed in California which states:
The specific nature of the physical condition or medical circumstance of the child for which a licensed physician does not recommend immunization.
Each specific required vaccine that is being exempted.
Whether the medical exemption is permanent or temporary.
If the exemption is temporary, an expiration date no more than 12 calendar months from the date of signing.
(Medical waivers are also now needed for a history of chickenpox, meeting the above criteria)

Most parents we sent notices at the end of the last school year, informing them which shots are needed. If you did not receive a notice and think your scholar may be missing a shot, please contact the health office.
Please stay safe and healthy this school year and wear a mask, keep your distance, wash your hands, and don’t touch your face. And remember… we are all in this together!
Kindest Regards,
Jeanie Schexnayder, LVN
