Week of September 18th
Tomorrow is a New Day, Filled with Possibilities!
Farragut is not just a place, but rather a community, filled with caring individuals who are committed to the well-being and success of our children. As we continue to support and uplift one another, let's remember that each new day is full of possibilities, and our collective efforts will ensure a bright future ahead.
We are indeed grateful for the dedication of our families, the hard work of our school team, and the passion of our teachers. Perceived setbacks are oftentimes pathways to opportunity - we pivot and grow stronger together; thank you for being part of this amazing community!
MTSS News and Notes
We are So Proud
Daily Reading Can Make All the Difference
Our reading specialist, Ms. Sue Jeong, shares enthusiasm school wide for her students improvement and advancement in their reading levels. Ms. Jeong is the curator of our campus book room - a leveled reading library - where she is often found searching for the next books to help move her students through a guided reading practice. We appreciate you, Ms. Jeong!!! Your consistency, love for helping others, and determination to make a change is why we are so proud to feature you this week. Thank you for making a difference!
What is Guided Reading?
Guided Reading is small group, differentiated instruction that supports students in developing reading proficiency. Children bring different experiences to the reading process, and we celebrate their advancements along a continuum of reading levels throughout the learning process. Small group instruction allows the teacher to target specific learning needs, provide scaffolding and reduce support to promote independence.
"Consistent daily reading practice is what children need to help them improve their reading skills. I am so proud of all of our students as they continue to make progress and develop their love for reading."

The 2023-24 Reflections Art Program has been bringing the arts to life for more than 10 million students since 1969. California State PTA and its members, families and kids are on the forefront of this amazing program, which increases community awareness about the importance of arts in education.
Reflections encourages students of all ages to:
Unleash creative talents and be inspired
Express themselves imaginatively in their artwork
Experience the fun and joy of making art
Tap into critical thinking skills to create art inspired by the annual theme
Receive positive recognition for their original works of art.
Theme: “I am Hopeful Because…”
All students are invited to participate and submit original artwork in one of six areas:
Dance Choreography
Literature
Photography
Film Production
Music Composition
Visual Arts
Artworks are submitted first to school-level PTAs, where they are recognized, celebrated and judged by five grade-level divisions, while a non-judged Special Artists division celebrates student artists with special needs.
Deadline for submissions is Wednesday, October 25.
If you are interested, please contact Rituparna Roy via text or email: 310-910-5412 or reflections.farragut@gmail.com
School PTAs then choose a selection of entries to be judged by local PTA units, which are then sent on to councils and then districts for consideration. The final artworks submitted to California State PTA by districts are considered for Outstanding Interpretation, Awards of Excellence or Awards of Merit. Outstanding Interpretation and Award of Excellence entries then go on to represent California in the final National PTA judging round.
Please note that contact information and the theme were incorrect in the previous foxy flyers, please ensure to reach out again if you did not hear back from Rituparna.

11. CCUSD Backpacks For Kids
Culver City Unified School District (CCUSD) believes that no child in our community should go hungry or have food insecurities, especially on weekends when students don’t have access to school-sponsored breakfasts and lunches. The Culver City Council PTA, in conjunction with CCUSD, provides students in need with a backpack filled with non-perishable food and snacks each week to ensure that every child can eat on the weekends.
There is no cost to participate and enrollment is 100% confidential. Each week, filled backpacks will be available in the school’s main office. You or your child, simply pick up the backpack and take it home. Backpacks will not be returned each week; your student will receive a new backpack each week. Enrollment is ongoing so any child in need can sign up for the program at any time throughout the school year.
If you would like your student to receive a weekly backpack, sign up here: https://forms.gle/HH595xKxJGr9H8tw8 or complete a form in your school office.
