Envisions as an adaptive program:
The Envisions Math curriculum has many adaptive options for reteaching, enrichment, extra practice, and visual learning. One thing that I discovered recently is that depending on a student's understanding of the lesson on the Quick Check and assessments, the program will automatically assign adaptive practice. The adaptive practice is sometimes a PDF or paper pencil worksheet that students must print. Students are not required to do the adaptive practice in "My Work" that is automatically assigned. I will only be posting Quick Checks and assessments on the Envisions Math website in "My work". However, the adaptive practice can give parents good insight to how your student is mastering the material. You may use the extra practice if you need extra work for your student to do on Fridays.
Reading River
This week, students took the first Reading assessment on the skills and strategies that we have been working on over the past few weeks. You can find your students score and a copy of their test in Clever on the Benchmark Website. Please check assignments on Benchmark Education.

Science: Animal Through Time Unit 1
Expectations:
Students are expected to do one lesson everyday. They watch the teacher recorded video and fill out their science packet as they watch the video. It is very important that students are completing the assignment and filling out their packet because they are allowed to use the packet and Mystery Science video when taking the Quiz on Day 4. Assignments are always posted on Sparks of Science Team and students need to take accountability for completing their work during this independent work time.
Please make sure that costumes for Black and Orange Day on October 30th are school appropriate!
Guidelines for Black and Orange Day
- Students may dress up in a costume.
- Regular school rules regarding the dress code must be followed.
- Student may not bring weapons of any kind to the zoom meeting.
- Costumes may not interfere with learning. This includes wearing masks, excessive gore, or makes other feel uncomfortable or scared.
Mindfulness and Cool Tools Topic
Accountability: Accepting ownership for the things you are responsible for.
This week we learning about accountability and we set a class goal for being accountable in school.
*Goal: We are going to be accountable in school by completing assigned work during breakout rooms and during Independent Work Time and use our time wisely.
Here is a great video that was shared with students about accountability. We all felt very motivated by the message!
Assignment Notebook
Students should be writing down their daily assignments in their assignment notebook. That way, parents can check the assignment notebook to make sure your student is keeping up with the assigned work. Any work that is not completed during the day is homework and students can check off the completed work as they are going along in their assignment notebook. I have also been posting pictures of the assignment notebook in Teams on my Homeroom Team. You can find it in the "files" tab at the top. I have been posting pictures so that parents know how I am writing down and keeping tracking of assignments and that your student is writing down the same thing. I give students many reminders and opportunities to write down and complete work. Please make sure you are checking your child's assignment notebook every night
