Survey Says!!
If you are wondering how my family and I ended up on Family Feud, it began during the height of COVID-19. My oldest son, Dorian Peterson, who lived in Florida at the time, called and said his wife Derricka said Family Feud was looking for San Antonio families to try out for the show. He wanted to know if we were interested. I said sure! I submitted an application which required you to answer a question and submit a video.
In November of 2020, I received an email stating the we were moving on to the next step in auditioning for Family Feud. This consisted of a Zoom interview and we played a round of Family Feud. After this, they informed us they would let us know by February 2021, if we were advancing to the next phase.
A few months later, I received an email informing us that we were moving on to the next phase which was selecting dates. They sent us three months worth of dates and I selected the dates we were available. Unfortunately, we weren't contacted that year, so my family had pretty much given up hope. However, I didn't because they informed us that potential contestant names stay in the system for three year.
I contacted Family Feud again in October and they stated they would send out new dates in February of 2022. I watched my email like a hawk, waiting for an email from Family Feud. Finally, I received an email with the available dates. This time, I said I was available any time they wanted us!
One evening in April, I was sitting in my kitchen eating a snack and the phone rang. It was from a number I didn't recognized so I didn't answer it. However, they left a message so I listened to it and that's when I realized it was Family Feud! I immediately called back and they wanted to know if my family was available May 24, 25 & 26! Of course I said yes and the rest is history!
To find out what happened next, you can catch us on Great Day SA (KENS 5) on November 7th between 9:00 am and 10:30 am. Also, you can read about our experience on Family Feud in the San Antonio Express News on Sunday, November 6th in the Features section.
I'll like to give a shout out to my Juniors (c/o 2023) from last year who practiced with me and have been with me since the beginning of this journey! GO DRAGONS!

TEACHER & STAFF CORNER
CONGRATULATIONS
This year the student body had input on the selection of the Teacher of the Year so she felt extra honored. She was surprised that so many students had nominated her as Teacher of the Year. Once the selection was narrowed down to three teachers, the faculty, staff and student body voted a second time and Mrs. Castaneda was selected. "I am truly honored to receive this recognition from my incredible students and from my outstanding colleagues at the high school. So many of you over the years have provided invaluable guidance, advice, support and friendship, I am indebted to you all," said Mrs. Castaneda.
