Thank you for registering!

Thank you for your interest in our first ever Summer Tech Academy. Your child/children are registered for the 4-6 programs:

  • Animations Using Coding (8:30-11:30)
  • Circuits with MaKey MaKey (12:30-3:30)

There will be a one hour break from 11:30-12:30 for lunch and some organized activities to give the students an opportunity to stretch and move.

Important Things to Know

Who will be teaching the class?

We have partnered with UTD to offer these courses to our students. Dr. Jey Veerasamy is the UT Dallas Director for the Center for Computer Science Education and Outreach. Graduate students from UTD will be teaching the classes.

Who else will be working with my child?

In addition to the graduate students who have completed background checks, we have hired 3 Cedar Hill ISD employees to help oversee and assist the classes. In addition to our staff, we also have students from Collegiate High School who have also volunteered to assist the students.

What will the day look like?

Staff will be at Bessie Coleman at 8:00 to greet students. Please do not drop students off any earlier as they will not be supervised. Classes will start promptly at 8:30 so please make sure students are on time. We will ask you to walk your child in and sign them in every day. This will also give you an opportunity to meet the staff. Students will be escorted to the classrooms from the main lobby area.

The first session will be from 8:30-11:30 with breaks as needed.

Lunch will be from 11:30-12:00. If you requested food service provide a lunch, it will be delivered at 11:30. After lunch the students will participate in organized activities (indoor or outdoor depending on the weather.)

The second session will be from 12:30-3:30. Please be prompted about picking up your students.

What is the dress code for summer camp?

We will have a relaxed dress code, but we do ask that students are dressed appropriately and modestly. Since they could be walking or playing outsides please wear closed toe shoes. Tennis shoes recommended. You may want to send a light-weight jacket or sweater in case the room temperature is cool.

Who do I contact if I need to reach my child during the day for any reason?

If you should need to reach staff or get a message to your child, you may call - 469-454-0450.

In case of an emergency, please call CHISD Administration 972-291-1581 ext. 4000. The operator should be able to direct your call to someone in technology that can provide assistance. Ask for Tracey Willyard, Neil Bolton, or Claudio Zavala.
