FREE CARDIAC SCREENING
RWJ Barnabas Health is offering Free Cardiac Screening for children ages 6-18. The NJDOE requires an annual sports physical for student athletes beginning in 6th grade. A comprehensive physical examination will identify health concerns that could impact your child’s ability to safely compete. However, at this time EKG’s are not a requirement. Pre-existing and underlying cardiac conditions can go undetected in the absence of a cardiac screening. A baseline EKG and resting blood pressure along with a thorough review of medical history and EKG interpretation by a pediatric cardiologist will be performed. EKG findings can result in further testing and are referred to your physician for evaluation to ensure each child's safety.
