Message from the Principal...

Hello Lions,

February bring lots of excitement. We have Valentine's Day Celebrations, Cupid Games, Project Hope Black History Parade, and so much more. With all of these activities it is difficult to remember to schedule time for reading, 8-10 hours of sleep and a healthy meal. I encourage you to sit down as a family and develop a schedule for your week nights. This allows your children to have a routine and be at their very best each school day.

Thank you for all you do to make your student successful. We appreciate you!!!

Thank you for entrusting us with your child,

Malinda Stewart

Federal Report Card

Each year, the state releases the Federal Report Card with a deep dive into the school's accountability. If interested, you may look at it here: https://www.conroeisd.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Wilkinson-2021-Federal-Report-Card.pdf

Updates from Mrs. Summerville

Over the next few months, our students will learn new important information/skills and prepare for many required tests such as common formative assessments, STAAR interim assessments, and STAAR exams. Our teachers are doing a wonderful job preparing our students for these exams, and we want our students to do their best. We also want to prevent our students from test anxiety. To help with that, teachers reinforce students’ effort rather than making a certain grade. If you have questions about theses assessments or the STAAR test, please contact your child’s teacher for more information.

Random Acts of Kindness

During the month of February, teachers and students will focus on showing Random Acts of Kindness throughout their day. This gives us all a chance to do something kind for someone we know or someone we do not know. It can be as simple as holding a door open, playing with someone that doesn’t have anyone to play with at recess, or giving a smile to someone who is sad. Something so simple can mean so much to someone else. Please help and encourage your child to show Random Acts of Kindness throughout the day.

R.O.A.R. Character Education Program

R.O.A.R. stands for Respect, Optimism, Acceptance and Responsibility! This year, we will have a new way to dive deep into our character education at Wilkinson. Each month, we will have a specific “focus” for the month that helps students to dig a little deeper into ways they can show Respect, Optimism, Acceptance and Responsibility.

February’s Focus: Accountability: This is on me.”

Your students will learn the importance of taking responsibility for their choices and actions as well as taking ownership of the consequences of those choices and actions. This means that instead of blaming others when something goes wrong, students will learn to be accountable for their choices and do what they can to make things right (or make it better).

Your students will discuss this concept during Guidance Lessons and during Morning Meetings this month. Thank you in advance for taking the time to discuss this with your students and encouraging them to practice showing accountability for their choices and actions.

"How To" use the SSO to access SORA and Destiny Discover for eBooks
