Kindness counts at Hosp

Congratulations to the fourth-grade KINDNESS classroom award recipients! Teachers had a tough time choosing only one per homeroom; we are proud of all of our kind students!

In October, we will emphasize the importance of RESPECT.

YOUR HELP REQUESTED: Seconds at lunch

Many of our fourth-graders like to buy "seconds" at lunch -- after they have purchased their meal, they return to the line to buy an additional entree, chips or dessert. Because there are so many fourth-graders who do this, the seconds line is long. Students end up spending valuable time in line -- instead of actually eating.

We are encouraging students to buy everything they want/need the first time through the line so that they'll have more time to eat. Please visit with your child about spending lunchtime wisely. Thank you for your support at home!

Need to report an absence? Change dismissal? Please email!

Absences and dismissal changes must be sent to the front office. The email address for both is hosp@friscoisd.org. Dismissal changes need to be sent by noon the day of the change. Thank you!

ASK YOUR FOURTH-GRADER: What is a seed story?

We're working hard on understanding the qualities of a strong personal narrative. This week we've identified a "seed story." Ask your fourth-grader what makes a strong seed story. Your child should share that it's a small moment in time with significance to the writer. They might also tell you that it has sensory detail, a plot with a beginning, middle and end, and an identifiable setting. We look forward to learning with your writers!

SPELLING LISTS

If your child misplaces the weekly spelling list, never fear! You can access the list online. Click here for current spelling lists.

SNACK TIME

Fourth-graders may eat a healthy snack at 11 a.m. in the classroom. Please be aware that we work through snack time, so food needs to be easy to eat. Please do not send glass containers. Thank you!
