October Volunteer Highlight
- Charlene has been involved with the PTO since 2016 when her oldest daughter, Cecilia, was in kindergarten. She said, "I wrote my name on almost every PTO sheet during the back to school night, it helps me feel connected to what is going on at the school. I enjoy receiving updates on various committees and helping where I can. It's a great group of fun people."
- She's been involved in 6 total book fairs, the last 4 she has planned and organized herself beautifully
- She and her family are loving this time of year, she says, "fall festivals and holiday events are the best."
- Traveling, movies and being outside in good weather are her family's favorite activities.
When we asked her what her favorite book to read to her kids she said Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. She is also enjoying ready Harry Potter with her oldest.
Speaking of the Book Fair
Kruse PTO hosts two book fairs, one in the Fall and one in the Spring. The Fall book fair brings in the most money for our school, usually 55% back on sales! The Spring book fair is always Buy One Get One. In 2018-2019:
- Total book sales was $14,382
- We earned $5,884 in Scholastic Dollars
- Each classroom received $158 in Scholastic Dollars!
- Library received $316 in Scholastic Dollars!
It's nice to know that each year Kruse classrooms and the library bring in fun new books and resources from your purchases during the book fair.
All For Books
You can put $0.25 in the collection box or you can also round up your purchase or select another amount to be given to the All For Books at the register.
Fall Book Fair is Nov. 12th - 15th
Consider volunteering for the book fair!
The book fair wouldn't work without volunteers. They set-up and tear down, run the registers, answer questions on the floor and run the lollipop pull. Each shift is only about 1 hour long and super easy. Contact Charlene Olms at cacolby@hotmail.com to find out how you can help.
