Opportunities at Baker University
In October we have two program options for teachers to either pursue a license in high incidence special education or to further their skills in the classroom. Here is a little more information about both programs!
Master of Arts in Education (MAEd)
The MAEd will be offered online and on-ground in October. Many teachers want the online option for classes, so for those who want to meet face-to-face with their instructors and classmates, October is the perfect time to start! We only offer the on-ground option one time per year, so now is the time for those who really want an on-ground option. The online option is through Moodle and the on-ground classes will be at our Overland Park Campus. This program is taught by faculty with experience in the PK-12 classroom which makes the curriculum extremely relevant to today’s classroom teacher. In fact, our students routinely tell us how valuable their classes at Baker are, to their own classroom!
Master of Science in Special Education (MSSE)
The MSSE program is offered online with synchronous Zoom video conference sessions each week. This gives our students the best of both online flexibility and face-to-face class discussions through zoom! Teachers who pursue this program will be eligible for a provisional license in high incidence special education after the third course and a full license at the end of their program. This is great for anyone who is on a teaching waiver as we will provide all the documentation needed to meet their requirement to be enrolled in a program. They will be able to get off the waiver after they obtain their provisional license, which is after their third course is complete.
To learn more about either of these programs attend one of the following informational meetings this week or contact me directly at lheinen@bakeru.edu.
Wednesday, September 18 at 5:30 pm
Via Zoom video conference
Thursday, September 19 at 5:30 pm
Via Zoom video conference
RSVP to one of the above meetings and we’ll send you the Zoom link!
Thank you for taking the time to share this information and we hope to hear from your teachers soon!
Sincerely,
Linda Heinen
