Here is the summary of Parkway's new program being shared with the middle school parents:

In our ever changing world, especially during these uncertain times, it is more important than ever to educate, support and empower our students with regards to their health. That is why the Parkway school district is excited to announce the start of Parkway PATH, Peers Advocating for Total Health. Parkway PATH (formerly Safe and Drug-free programs) is a teen lead initiative which consists of a series of programs geared to prevent and/or reduce student use of alcohol, e-cigarettes, marijuana and other drugs as well as build resiliency and support systems. Through age-appropriate, virtual lessons, high school role models will educate middle school students about the unhealthy consequences of drug use and the benefits of choosing a healthy lifestyle. Ultimately, our hope is to equip each student to have the attitude to “Learn It, Live It, and Pass It On.”

Tell us about your family. Any pets?

My wife, Melinda, is a 6th grade ELA teacher in Ferguson. My daughter, Sofia, is an 8th grader in Rockwood and loves to sing and do musicals (when COVID isn't shutting them down). She is also very artistic and creative. My son, Thomas, is a 2nd grader in Rockwood and he is our little genius. He loves learning, especially about history and geography (he also loves to study flags). We have a dog named Izzy and two cats: Ozzie and Taco. We are also babysitting a bearded dragon named Pineapple (a classroom pet, we've now had her since March).

How long have you been working at Parkway Central Middle School?

I am in year six.

What do you like to do in your “spare” time? Do you have any hobbies?

I enjoy drawing, writing, and reading. I like to play sports (sand volleyball the past couple of years), and I especially love music. I collect vinyl records, but I also ALWAYS have my bluetooth speaker playing something. Singing is a favorite hobby of mine.

Spicy. Very, very spicy.

Finish this sentence: When I retire someday I would like to…

Do something creative and travel.

What do you like most about working at Central Middle School?

Community. Central feels like a family, and I never take for granted how lucky we are to have that at our school. It makes work feel less like work.
