A Note from Mrs. Lee
Dear Parents,
What an exciting second week of school! It is truly a joy to be at a school where parents show so much interest and respect for their children's school. It was good to see you at the Parent Information Night.
Classes are quickly getting into their normal routines, and we are proud of our Stars for adjusting so well.
We also want to let you know that the safety of our students is always our top priority. Plano ISD utilizes the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) in order to be prepared in case of emergency. The SRP is based on these four actions: lockout, lockdown, evacuate and shelter. We practice these procedures with all students on a consistent basis throughout the school year. Our first drill was on Monday, and everyone did a great job at following directions. As it was a first for a lot of our little ones, it was practiced in a non-threatening and friendly way.
In case you missed Monday's General Parent Information Night, here's the link for your reference. Parent Information Night Slides - General School Information

PACE Referral
PACE is a gifted enrichment program for students who have demonstrated the need for advanced instruction. At the elementary level, PACE is a weekly pull out program in which students are removed from the general education classroom to work under the guidance of a gifted specialist. The time spent in the PACE program varies according to the grade level of the student.
Referred students in K-5 are assessed in the first semester to determine January placement. District-wide CogAT tests administered to first, third, and fifth grade students are part of the data used to determine the need for gifted services. Kindergarten, second, and fourth grade will be administered the district approved PACE battery of assessments, including CogAT, upon referral. Students may be assessed for PACE only once each academic year.
Students may be referred for gifted services by teachers, parents, principals, counselors, or by the students themselves. Students are assessed at their home campus during the school day.
K – 5th Grade Referral Deadline is September 13, 2019.
For more detailed information about the PACE program, please refer to https://www.pisd.edu/giftededucation. Online referral forms are available at this site. If you prefer a hard copy, please contact Kyla Ahnemann, Gifted Specialist, kyla.ahnemann@pisd.edu.
