March 2020 Edition
Spring Forward!
Hello Phoenix Families -
We hope that you're getting ready to SPRING forward, officially on March 8th (move your clocks up one hour)! The experts say, Punxsutawney Phil "The Groundhog" didn't see his shadow, which means Spring will come early this year. With our luck with mother nature, we hope this is true. Warm days, with clear skies is just what we need to keep the energy going at Hampton MS. We are counting down the days until Spring Break. That's right, Thursday, March 5th is the last day of school before a week long Spring Break. With a long break ahead, comes anxiety and emotions that may trigger certain behaviors. Take time to talk to your scholar about re-focusing their energy on good study habits, completing assignments, and making the right decisions.

IMPORTANT DATES: March Parent Calendar
Everything a Hampton Parent Needs to Know - Reminders!
Spring Break: There will NO SCHOOL Thursday, March 6th - Friday, March 13th.
Social Media: We have noticed an increase in scholars using social media inappropriately. Please make sure you are checking your scholar’s social media activity and talking with them about internet etiquette. If a scholar posts something or does something inappropriate and it comes back to campus in a disruptive way, your scholar will be held accountable.
Scholar Backpacks and Fanny Packs: We have noticed an increase in scholars bringing fanny packs and pouches to class to carry food and phones rather than personal items and school supplies. Due to this, scholars will not be allowed to carry backpacks of any kind (mini included) or any types of pouch or fanny pack. They will have to leave these items in their lockers. Scholars that have feminine products in their backpack or purse will be able to go to their locker before going to the bathroom.
Attendance: We are appreciative for everything you do to ensure your scholar is at school daily! We also understand that scholars get sick and things happen that may prevent them from being able to come to school. Thank you for sending excused notes that scholars bring in reference to their absence. Please note that even if an absence is excused or unexcused the total number of days absent will be taken into consideration when making grade placement decisions to promote or retain scholars for the next school year. Grades and attendance are equally important.
Health: Flu cases are spreading fast! In order to treat the flu, it must be diagnosed within the first 48 hours. To prevent the flu or any other illnesses from spreading, best practices are not to send scholars to school with a fever of 100 or above.
Uniforms: Are you unsure about the Uplift Hampton Middle School Uniform Policy? Click on this link to read all about it: https://www.smore.com/8dye9

STAAR TEST DATES
Need to Meet With Administration?
Uplift Hampton Middle School is always delighted to speak and meet with parents. While we make every opportunity to meet with parents, please note that arriving to school to meet with Admin without an appointment may result in a scheduling of an appointment for a different time or day. To ensure timely responsiveness please adhere by the following suggestions:
1. Call Ahead and Schedule an Appointment – By calling ahead, it ensures that parents are able to meet with Admin in a timely matter while respecting your valuable time. At various times throughout the day Admin are in meetings, in classrooms supporting teachers or even off campus for meetings. Without an appointment, it can be difficult to meet with parents right away.
2. Email – All emails addresses can be found on our Uplift Website as well as at the bottom of every newsletter. Emailing can possibly save time by eliminating phone tag especially if a call back may occur during difficult to answer situations such as work hours. All emails will be responded to within 48 business hours.
We thrilled with your outstanding engagement in your child’s education and we thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
