Elkton Elementary School Memo
September 28, 2020
A Note from Mrs. Palmer
I hope this letter finds you in good health. EES misses all of you and are looking forward to having more students back in school.
The RCPS school board will be meeting Monday night. Dr. Scheikl will give an update on the current data related to Covid in our communities. This will impact when students may return to school. The goal was to start bringing more students back into the building in October. The school board would have to approve the return and then transportation needs would have to be worked on. This may take several weeks. As of now, I am not sure when students will return.
If you need technology support, our technology assistant Mrs. Shifflett is available on Wednesdays to support you. Email her at terryshifflett@rockingham.k12.va.us to set up a Wednesday appointment.
Wednesday is a remote learning day for all students. Assignments must be completed in order for your child to be counted present for that day. Assignments could be a worksheet or for our virutal students, online activities. Completing some type of activity is to be done. This is stated in the attendance policy below. When a child has three absences, I will be contacting the parent to discuss your child's absences.
Students have a fabulous job wearing their masks. I am very proud of them. Just a few suggestions/reminders: 1) Students should have multiple masks- one for each day due to the need to wash the mask (let us know if you need more masks) 2) Students have to be wearing a mask to get on the bus. It should not be in the child's bookbag.
Attendance Policy: RCPS has updated the attendance policy for all students
