Dear Everitt Families:

I hope you all had a good week and that you stayed warm during the icy days.

Last Friday evening, our theatre guild performed their play at Wheat Ridge High School. It was such a fun evening. There's nothing like watching kids work together to create something that they are all proud of. There are some photos of the show below. Congratulations to all of our theatre guild students!

You will see below an opportunity to volunteer at Everitt by coming to spend some time with our students during study hall before late start on Thursdays and during lunches. If that is something you can do, I would encourage you to sign up! Our students will benefit from time spent playing four square or football with you at recess or playing games with you in the library on late start days. And you will benefit from getting to know some really great kids! Win-win!

Enroll Jeffco continues this week. Please be sure to mark your child's enrollment for next year. Schools are beginning to budget for next year and your enrollment during this window makes a huge difference in our ability to budget accurately. If you are having difficulty with Enroll Jeffco, we are having a help session on Wednesday next week from 2:45-5:00 to help families. See you then!

Thank you for supporting and believing in your neighborhood school. It is our privilege to partner with you!

PTA News!

Lunch Bunch and Thursday Morning Volunteers:

Want to lend a hand at the school? Sign up to spend some time socializing with the students during lunch and recess or on Thursday mornings before late start. Thank you in advance for donating your time and making our community stronger!

Lunches are broken up into 3 sections. With some exceptions, they are generally 6th graders 1st, 7th graders 2nd and 8th graders 3rd. Each lunch is 30 minutes. On Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays they run one after another, on the block days of Wednesday and Thursday there is a 10-15 minute gap between lunch sections. If you want to come for just one or 2 sections that is no problem, but you are also welcome to stay the entire lunch time!

When you arrive go to the main office to sign-in and fill out volunteer paperwork (the first time only) and then head to the cafeteria or library. You can bring an activity (like a football, 4 square ball etc) or just join in with what's going on!

Questions? Email everittpta@gmail.com or call 720-291-1435 (Dan Weinstein)

Sign up for Lunch Bunch here!

Our next PTA meeting will be Wednesday, February 2nd from 6:30-7:30 pm. It will be followed by SAC from 7:30-8:30 pm.

Our Next Social Emotional Learning Unit

Over the next several weeks, your child will be discussing bullying as part of Second Step® Middle School. Bullying is at its peak in middle school, and research indicates that taking proactive steps to address bullying will help reduce occurrences of it in our school.

Second Step Middle School is designed to support your child in developing the knowledge and skills to help stop bullying. Students will learn how to recognize bullying in various contexts, how to use strategies to stand up safely to bullying, and how to seek help if they or someone they know is being bullied.

Here are some key definitions your child will be learning:

• Bullying: intentional physical, verbal, or social aggression. It’s often repeated over time and occurs when there’s a real or perceived power imbalance.

• Bystander: anyone who’s aware that bullying is happening

• Cyberbullying: the use of technology to harass, threaten, or intimidate another person

• Physical bullying: hurting someone’s body or possessions

• Relational bullying: hurting someone’s reputation or relationships, such as by excluding them

• Upstander: someone who stands up for a person being bullied

• Verbal bullying: saying or writing mean things about someone

We encourage students to report any instances of bullying they witness or experience to you and to trusted adults at our school. Please contact us at Everitt if you need support in reporting or dealing with bullying. Additionally, if you have any questions about Second Step Middle School, please don’t hesitate to contact us for more information. Thank you for your support as we work together to build a bullying-free community.

New Parent Portal and Enrollment Updates -- Goodbye Jeffco Connect and Hello Enroll Jeffco for 2022-2023

Jeffco Connect may be gone, but its functionality is not. If you are looking for the links to pay student fees, complete the free and reduced lunch application, update contact information, etc., head over to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. They’re all there under the “More” tab in the left side navigation.

EnrollJeffco is now the first stop for all families looking to enroll in a Jeffco Public School. To add new students, enroll or apply for the upcoming school year, or apply to an alternative school, log into EnrollJeffco to begin the enrollment and registration process. Once you have enrolled in a school, you will receive a link to complete the household registration process in Infinite Campus.

Finally, if you’ve forgotten your username or password for any of these systems, you can use our new Personal Account Manager to recover or reset those. Questions? Check out our Infinite Campus Parent Portal page, the updated EnrollJeffco information, or visit JeffcoHelp.

EnrollJeffco 2022-23 is Open!

EnrollJeffco Round 1 enrollment is open and will run through Jan. 28, 2022. All applications received before the close of Round 1 (January 28) will be included in the lottery process for the 2022-2023 school year. We are excited to see how many new and returning families have already completed this process.

Even if you are a current Everitt family and want to continue at Everitt, you will need to go into EnrollJeffco and indicate that on the form.

If you are struggling to log in, this link may help.

Middle School Sports Program

Bea S. - Bea helped another student who was absent to catch up on work and explained each problem step by step. She is a great helper and did this without anyone asking her to. Thank you Bea!

Ms. Colonna - Ms. Colonna is teaching her students responsibility and sustainability and shared that learning with me so that I can pass it on to my students as well with the "pencil project"! She is so creative and is a wonderful asset to Everitt!

Sean H. - Sean is always positive, helpful, gives a solid effort and helps others feel included and welcome at school. Sean also shared some very funny information with me, which made my day and maybe my year.

Van L. - Lian does a great job in CREW making everyone feel welcome and valued. He is a great leader and finds ways to make friends with everyone.

Ash (Damien) P. - Ash has been doing amazing in class! Even though he had to miss a couple days of school he came back ready to learn and worked extra hard to get caught up! He was asking thought-provoking questions and encouraging other students to do the same!

Everitt Middle School
