The Mission of Holy Trinity Catholic High School
Holy Trinity Catholic High School seeks to form the Christian Leaders of Tomorrow; we strive to develop the intellect, educate the heart, and form the character of each student by giving witness to Gospel values.
At Holy Trinity Catholic High School we believe communication between the school and community is crucial to making our students successful. This Weekly Bulletin will detail any announcements and events that are taking place the upcoming week. Please look for this bulletin every Friday afternoon to be sent to your email address on file.
First Week Down!
A Note from Mr. Mosmeyer
Each year, I half-jokingly make sure the students know that my birthday is Sept. 1. I tell them I want Starbucks cards and G-2 Pens! And, the students and parents have always been generous to me at my birthday and to all of us at Christmas, etc. However, the events of this weekend have made me reflect on my annual, rather selfish, coffee fund-raiser.
As many of you know, I have strong family ties to the Coastal Bend area, the area hit by Hurricane Harvey this weekend. I have relatives in Ingleside and Portland. I was born in Corpus Christi and grew up in Victoria. My mother still lives in Victoria, and she purchased a vacation/retirement home in Holiday Beach, just north of Rockport. At this time, though I know my mother and other family members are safe, I do not know if their homes are. I do know that most businesses and homes have severe damage.
So, here's what I want for my birthday. I want to help a Catholic school in that area. I will be taking up a collection for Sacred Heart Catholic School in Rockport. The school and church are located in the heart of the area that you may have seen on the news. It is highly likely that both the school and church took some damage.
I will be contacting Kathy Barnes, the principal of Sacred Heart, and Fr. Ray Yrias, the pastor, to find out how they weathered the storm. If, by some miracle, they came through unscathed, I will make sure that our donations go to some organization that can put them to good use to help the Rockport area get back on its feet.
I certainly have appreciated the generosity of students and parents over the years on my birthday. I hope that you will consider giving again, but this time, I would greatly appreciate you joining me in this effort to help a community that is close to my heart.
If you have any questions, please e-mail me at email@example.com.
Monday, August 28th will be our first SWEET MONDAY of the year! To those of you who are new to Holy Trinity, this is an event that occurs on the last Monday of each month. Free sweets are passed out to the students and employees during lunch for all of their hard work and dedication to the school with leftovers placed in the teacher's lounge unless otherwise noted. If you can provide 2 dozen of some type of sweet treat, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org so that we have an idea of how much is being brought. The students love fruits and healthy snacks as well!
Please drop off the sweets at the front office on the morning of Monday, August 28th.
Please put your name on your treats so that we can give proper thanks and keep track of the parent volunteer hours.
This is the Sweet Monday schedule for 2017-2018:

Students who cannot stay afterschool are strongly encouraged to attend the practices during ninth period. Students who cannot make any of those times should see Mr. Mosmeyer for more information.
Also, sign-up for the September tournaments has begun. The first Debate tournament will be at Holy Trinity on September 9. The team will be at Pflugerville High School on Sept. 16 and back at Holy Trinity on Sept. 23. Students interested in competing need to sign-up by Sept. 1.
*Library is open to students Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings between 8 and the first bell. Students can also come by those mornings and pick up a lunch pass, and come visit the library after they finish eating.
*It's also a nice option to log onto our library catalog via the school website, under Academics. Take your time searching and see our latest acquisitions.
*Our Holy Trinity Walden Library is looking for seeking a bar height table to go with our newly refinished bar height chairs....kind of Starbucks like. Let us know if you run across one that might work for us.
Senior makeups for portraits will also be the same day.
Registration is required through the Diocesan. In order to register for an EIM Workshop, you must first complete the volunteer application, “eAppsDB”. Once you have attended the workshop please submit a copy of the certificate to the school office. This workshop is for new parents and those who are in need of the refresher course.
Students Enjoy the Solar Eclipse on Monday
The Wildflower Place:
This is a retirement home that is always in need of people to come and spend time with the residents. This might involve playing board games, socializing, singing, playing an instrument, etc. It is located in Temple and can be reached at (254) 239-0458.
Friends of the Temple Public Library:
There will be a used book sale August 30-September 2. The library is in need of volunteers to help during and after the book sale. For more information, contact (254) 298-5555.
Our Lady of the Angels Maternity Shelter:
is looking for ladies to volunteer during office hours (8am - 6pm) on a weekly basis. If you are EIM certified, able to complete a background check and have a current Driver's license, please consider serving with us! We are looking for ladies to help with daily tasks around the shelter and possibly serve as house parents. A house parent is a person who's priority is to advocate for the moms and children we house. It entails being a supportive person for the mom, transporting them to Dr appointments, help with life skills education such as parenting classes, and other things that help to improve their pregnancy or parenting situation so they can better care for themselves and their children. Email your resume to firstname.lastname@example.org or call 254-742-2340 for more information.
