Lago Vista Middle School

2/8/19

4 months left!

Hard to believe that we are in February already! We only have 4 months left - we've accomplished so much, but have so much left to do! Coming up in the next few weeks we will start our benchmark testing to make sure our students are where they need to be for the STAAR test. Basketball is over, but track, golf and tennis are coming up.

We're still dealing the 2019 Flu-Mageddon but don't forget there are still other illnesses that might need a doctor's attention.

Coach Karg and Coach Tomlin Meet With Track Athletes

Our track season will officially begin on Monday, February 11th. Please join either LVMS Boys Athletics or LVMS Girls Athletics TEAMAPP to get information about practices and meets.

Currently, our plan is to have track practice during the athletics period. All running and conditioning will happen during that time. We will bus athletes over to the HS track on certain days depending on the field events they are participating in. We will bus relay teams and hurdlers as well.

NEXT WEEK ONLY, we will bus ALL athletes to the track on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday for time trials and field event tryouts. Please stay in contact with your child, but we should be done with practice no later than 5:30 every day.

We will do our very best to ensure your child finds an event that suits their skills and talents. We are limited in the number of athletes we are allowed to enter in a meet, so we will make every effort to take an athlete to at least one meet this season. If they are competing at the top of their event, then they will likely go to more or all of the meets.

Meet Schedule:

Feb 22 - Blanco

March 1 - Comfort

March 8 - Rogers

March 13 - Lago Vista

March 29 - Cameron Yoe

April 5th - DISTRICT at Blanco

We had a great time at our dance on Friday night!

Middle School and Valentine's Day...what a combination! As much as we would love to, we will NOT be making Valentine's Day deliveries for students on Thursday. Any flowers, candy, etc. that is sent to the office will be kept until after school is let out. And yes, I am the Valentine's Day grinch!

Valentine Carnation Pre Sales begin next week on Monday during 6th, 7th and 8th grade lunches. Pre sales will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday is delivery day, also during lunches. Flowers are $2 each and may be sent to self, friends or faculty. (only a limited supply will be available).

Tutorials?

If your student needs any help - we have two options for tutorials. If they would like to come in during the morning at 7:45, teachers are available by appointment. Also, each student has an advisory period each day where they are able to get help from their teachers. If you are dropping off in the morning, please make sure to drop off by the cafeteria and the students will walk up from there.
