Armada Elementary School Newsletter
Week of October 22, 2020
Hello Armada Elementary Parents & Students!
As communicated last week our Distance Learning program has been extended until January. The Board of Education will meet on January 12 to evaluate the conditions to determine whether it is safe to move forward to a hybrid model. Our school is busy preparing classrooms to align with the CDC guidelines for when students return. Please be assured student and staff safety is a priority and our District is taking the necessary measures for when our schools open in a Hybrid Model. A friendly reminder to continue receiving District and school information, please make sure we have your most recent contact information in Q Parent Portal. Families can make changes and update their information by opening their Q Parent Portal account.
Important Update for November 5-6, 2021 - These two days were originally scheduled in the elementary school calendar as non-student days for Parent Teacher Conference days. Although the days will continue to be non-student days, the Parent Teacher Conferences on these days will no longer take place. This means there will not be synchronous virtual instruction for our elementary students on November 5-6, 2020. I encourage you to contact your children’s teachers during their daily scheduled Office Hours. If you would like to request a parent-teacher conference, please let them know.
I am including our school website link with all our grade level Distance Learning virtual schedules and our Staff Directory which include our teachers’ email links.
Thank you, Armada Families!
Until next week, please stay safe, wear a mask, practice social distance, and wash hands regularly.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Arreola ● Proud Armada Elementary Principal ● mearreola@mvusd.net
Ms. Crystal Thomas ● Assistant Principal ● cthomas2@mvusd.net

Ms. Arroyo, School Counselor
Did you know our new school counselor, Ms. Arroyo, has a Google Classroom for all our Armada students? When our students log on to Clever and select the Google Classroom icon, they will see a minimum of three classrooms: their teacher, school administrators, and counselor. Please login to our school counselor’s Google Classroom weekly for new postings. In this classroom, students will find interactive lessons for anti-bullying, social emotional learning guidance lessons, read alouds, school spirit day activities, resources for both students and parents and so much more! Currently Ms. Arroyo is posting weekly Second Steps SEL lessons for students by grade level to view videos and complete a quick learning activity. Her Google Classroom Code is fd52iif. Visit the Counselor’s Corner page on our school website for contact information and referrals

Technology Resources * Updating Chromebooks & Clearing the History
Two measures that have been taken to troubleshoot inaccessibility to synchronous instruction is to clear the history of Chromebooks and update them to the newest version of Google Chrome's Operating System.
Clearing the history of a Chromebook works very similarly to clearing the pages of a cell phone. Having too many pages open on a cell phone affects the processing and functionality of a phone. Similarly, a Chromebook needs to be cleared of its history often. Otherwise, it starts affecting all programs and especially, entry into zoom.
Updating the Chromebook is crucial because it will start to cause issues for students.
