The Green Monster

By Dina Angelis

How is it used?

Users will often smoke it after rolling it into a joint using paper or through a bong and other things such as glass and water pipes. Sometimes users will cut open a cigar and fill the place where the tobacco is with weed. That's called a blunt.

Why is weed bad for you?

There are two different effects weed has on your body. One is long term and the other is short term.

The short term includes:

-Sensory distortion

-Poor coordination of movement

-Lowered reaction time

-After an initial “up,” the user feels sleepy or depressed

-Increased heartbeat (and risk of heart attack)

The long term includes:

-Reduced resistance to common illnesses (colds, bronchitis, etc.)

-Suppression of the immune system

-Growth disorders

-Increase of abnormally structured cells in the body

-Reduction of male sex hormones

-Rapid destruction of lung fibers and lesions (injuries) to the brain could be permanent

-Reduced sexual capacity

-Study difficulties: reduced ability to learn and retain information

-Apathy, drowsiness, lack of motivation

-Personality and mood changes

-Inability to understand things clearly

My poem about the green monster:

Roses are red

Violets are blue

these are nice plants

don't you think so too?

Fall leaves are yellow

the green ones seem mellow

one leaf today

one leaf tomorrow

it all ends in sorrow

First you're high

then you want to say bye

killing yourself because the high is gone

find yourself refilling that same bong

that green leaf that's taking over in your head

you have the power to put the green monster to bed
