CHRIST-KING CATHOLIC SCHOOL
November 2022
Faith Moment
Our service act of the month will be packing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. Families can make donations of toys, hygiene supplies or school supplies to be placed in a shoebox OR they can take shoeboxes home, fill them, and return them to the school.
All our families are invited to Mass @ 11am on Sunday, November 6, 2022 for Catholic Education Sunday! Please join us to celebrate Christ-King!
Sacramental Preparation
Christ-King Catholic Church has opened registration for their Sacramental Preparation classes for the First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. Any families wishing for their child to participate (typically Grade 2 & 3 age group), please contact the Church (403-742-2047) or the school (403-742-0280) for registration forms!

Remembrance Day Celebration
CKCS will be hosting their Remembrance Day Celebration on Monday, November 7 @ 10:30am. All parents/guardians are welcome to join us. Our Junior High students will be leading the celebration with the help of a few others from the school and community.
All our students receive poppies for the celebration. Please send a donation of $1-2 for the Legion on Monday.
CKCS Code
November Code Cred Prize - Christmas Afternoon with Mrs. McMillan!
At CKCS, we follow the CKCS Code which is made up of 5 important truths:
- I am a valuable member of the CKCS family.
- I am responsible for my words and actions.
- I treat others the way they would like to be treated.
- I work hard on all tasks.
- I respect all property.
This Code was developed out of the "Fruits of the Spirit" from the Bible. Students learn about the Code in the month of September and are encouraged to demonstrate it in all aspects of their day. When students are exemplifying the Code, they may earn a "CKCS Code Cred". This is a ballot that they can add to a monthly draw. Prizes change each month - sometimes they are individual prizes or prizes a student can win for their class.

CKCS Bookworms
Students worked hard on their September & October Reading Bingo sheets for the CKCS Bookworms. Altogether they were able to earn 1,611 points out of 25,000 points.
What are they earning points towards?
Every year, Mrs. McMillan challenges the CKCS Bookworms (the CKCS student body) to read at home. If they are able to complete her challenge by the end of the year, she will follow through with something ridiculous! In past years, she has had to dye her hair rainbow colours and has slept on the school roof for 24 hours.
This year, if the CKCS Bookworms can reach 25,000 reading points (each bingo card is worth 20 pts), then Mrs. McMillan will provide ice cream sundaes for the entire school. In addition, students will be give the chance to turn Mrs. McMillan herself, into an ice cream sundae - complete with ice cream, sauces, sprinkles and cherries.
Spirit Days
At CKCS, we have a Spirit Day every other Friday. A theme is set and students are invited to dress up to show their school spirit. It is completely optional and not mandatory! Often we add to the fun by changing up our school bells etc. to match the theme!
November 3rd - Dress Like a Teacher Day
November 17th - Crazy Hat Day
CKCS Chargers
The Charger Volleyball teams have been busy with their volleyball season! They head into the CARA tournament on November 5th @ Wm E Hay and CKCS.
The Volleyball Chargers will be facing off against the Staff Volleyball team and heading to Red Deer to watch a Red Deer Polytechnic game for their Season Wind-Up on November 25th!
More information will come soon as we look forward to our Basketball Season.
CKCS School Council
The next School Council Meeting will be on Monday, November 14, 2022 @ 7pm. It will be in-person with a virtual option.

School Council plays a very vital role at Christ-King. They fundraise to provide events for our students, they organize hot lunches, staff appreciation and so many other activities. Since they do so many things for our school, it does take volunteer power. Please consider coming! We know life gets busy so you do not need to attend every meeting, nor are you expected to volunteer for every event in the year. Please just help out as you can!
