Continuous Improvement continues to invest in training...
Miller Pipeline continues to invest in training our people to introduce continuous improvement and lean principles. For three days in June, fifteen managers, supervisors, directors and foremen gathered in Indianapolis to obtain their “Green Belt” certification. This certification signifies that the person has been through the training, and accompanying simulation. They are familiar with lean concepts and have the tools and knowledge to lead and participate in structured improvement events. Click here to read more...
July 2015 Wellness Topic: Take a stand for your health
Have you heard yet? Sitting is a growing health concern. Whether it's at a desk, television, or even behind the wheel of a car, the level of inactivity increases our risk for developing cancer, diabetes, obesity, heart disease, and even early death.
To counteract the negative effects of sitting, it is recommended that you make an effort to sit less and move more. Here are a few ways to do that at work:
-Hold walking meetings with colleagues
-Stand while talking on the phone
-Park in the furthest spot from the door
-Take the stairs
Stretching is also very important for your muscles and can help to undo some of the damage done by sitting. Click here to learn some quick stretches you can perform at work.
Summer Safety Sweep
Are you focusing on being safe this summer? Let's sweep the summer away without incidents or injuries! Within these busy months, the Summer Safety Sweep is a program to remind each employee of a new focus to address and remember. Each focus has either helpful hints, reminders or steps on how to be safe and prevent injuries. The month of July focuses on heat stress, bee stings, job planning, safe driving and slips/trips/falls. Let's come together as a team to improve safety for our employees and the local communities we serve. Have additional questions? The Safety Department will be happy to help.
PERFORMANCE EXCELLENCE- JUNE
Josh Vanbibber and his crew: this crew was heading to lunch and noticed the boxes next to the restaurant were caught on fire. They ran to their truck and grabbed the fire extinguishers to put out the fire. Their quick action saved the restaurant and prevented any harm to the public.
