On behalf of our teachers, principals and all our staff, we welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year. We are excited to re-connect with our students and families,. We understand the challenges that lie ahead and are ready to work with each of you to best meet your learning needs.

Our high school and middle school teachers are ready to Zoom with you on Wednesday and get you logged into your Google Classrooms. Our elementary teachers can't wait to see you at the drive by events to pick up your Chromebooks and classroom materials. Remember to stay in your cars. Please be sure to check out your school's website for details or call your school to arrange a time if you missed the distribution day.

How will Attendance be Taken?

We are so excited to connect with your students. Attendance is an important way for us to track a student's engagement and connectivity. We also know that families will need a variety of ways to connect. Here is how we will record daily attendance

Elementary attendance is recorded DAILY at 8am at the LIVE Zoom meeting.

High/Middle School attendance is recorded DAILY at the beginning of each LIVE class period and advisory.

If a student isn't able to connect for the LIVE session, teachers will use additional methods by

  • monitoring Google Classroom connections and evidence of work for assigned lesson
  • making direct contact with student by email or phone

On Wednesdays, attendance will be recorded when students connect to Google Classrooms and demonstrate evidence of work for assigned lesson. HS/MS students may also attend the live support Zooms for that particular course.

If a student is unable to attend class due to illness, parents are asked to report the absence by contacting the school office.

USDA Extended Free Meal Service

On August 31, the federal government announced that free meal service will be extended until December 31, 2020. Like last Spring, this means that we will be able to provide all children age 18 and under free breakfast and lunch. Parents/Guardians can pick up meals without children present (scan cards are not needed).

Meal service begins on Wednesday, September 2, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the following locations: Fort Stevens, Lackamas, McKenna, Southworth, Ridgeline MS and Yelm High School. We are also offering meal service at Ridgeline MS from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.


Families continue to request information regarding local child care options. We are continuing to connect with local child care programs and faith-based organization to help them support YCS students. Check out a complete list on our website.

NO Cost immunization clinics

You do not have to be a Sea Mar patient to participate! What you need to know/bring:

  • Student’s previous immunization records
  • Students under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian
  • No exemptions/waivers will be issued
  • Immunizations are available on a first-come, first-served basis
