EdCamp?? What's that?
I will be attending the EdCamp Chicago held at Bednarcik Jr. High School on May 9th. Who's with me?
EdCamp is based upon the idea that educators are a powerful "community of empowered learners." It's an "unconference." What this means is that the sessions form the morning of the event, based upon what the attendees want to discuss. The format is collaboration and discussion based. There is a facilitator for each session, not a presenter. It's meant to encourage the open flow of ideas, sharing of resources, and building of shared knowledge.
EdCamps are a revolution in professional development and they are happening all over the United States.
The EdCamp's I've gone to have been amazing experiences. I missed the last EdCamp Chicago because I didn't sign up quickly enough. There will be educators from many different districts in attendance. Registration is open to SD308 teachers from now until March 18th. After that, it's open to the rest of Chicagoland.
Please see below for the flyer.
I'm incredibly excited about this day - I hope that some of you will join me!
