Popcorn Party: Our hearts just POP because no staff is BUTTER! We appreciate you so much!!! Hope you enjoyed the popcorn treat bar today :)
Feedback: If you haven't already, please take a few minutes to fill out the below feedback survey. How are we doing as a school? How am I doing as your principal? We're halfway through the year and I need your feedback! Please take a few minutes to fill out the survey link below to share feedback with me. I'll ask you to share what you'd like to start, stop, and continue as a school:
- Start: What ideas do you have or have you heard about or seen on another campus that you think would add value at Rennell?
- Stop: What do you think we should stop doing as a campus? Why is it detrimental to our campus?
- Continue: What practices or traditions are we doing well as a campus that you want to see continued?
Then, I'll ask you to shift your focus to me. What do you want ME as your principal to start, stop, and continue? I believe that I am not being an effective leader if I am not meeting your needs - so I ask that you truly be honest (you can - the survey is anonymous) - although I do sweetly ask that you state things kindly and professionally :).
Please take the time to share an idea for each category. I truly value your feedback and want to hear your thoughts and ideas as we move forward into the second half of the school year!
Meeting Update
- Staff Meeting (lead by Meredith - whole staff in the library)
- Team Meeting (lead by the Assistant Principals for teachers only)
- Purposeful PD (for teaching staff - to grow and learn)
- Committee Day (just a protected day to make it easy to get together as a committee)
TELPAS testing is coming up soon and requires additional meetings by law. In order to accommodate without adding additional meetings for the teachers this applies to, we will be canceling the Team Meeting scheduled for January 25 (next week) as well as the before school Purposeful PD scheduled for the following week (January 31) so that TELPAS teachers can meet without having to come in for an additional meeting time. Molly will contact you if you need to attend the TELPAS meetings on these days.
There will be no Team Meeting reschedule - we'll get important information out through email or this newsletter - so be sure to read! Purposeful PD will take place during plannings on the 31st. Please watch for more details coming soon. We hope you know how much we value each of you and your time!

edCamp Cy-Fair
What is an edCamp? It is a day of learning with NO PRESENTERS, NO POWERPOINTS, and NO HANDOUTS!!! Just educators sharing their thoughts and ideas with each other by having real, honest conversations. AND it's my FAVORITE professional development model. I ALWAYS come away from an edCamp learning SO MUCH and making connections with other educators that I can reach out to after the event.
It is coming up next Saturday, January 26 at 8:00am at Spillane Middle School. Breakfast is provided and you'll leave by lunch with great ideas and reignited passion!
Here's the link to find out more and register for this free event!
PS - I am one of the leaders and organizers of this event - I would love to have a great turn out from Rennell! :)
CF-Tess Mid-Year Reflection
Prior to the end of January, each teacher needs to 1.) revisit the personal professional goal that was set at the beginning of the school year for reflection and assessment of progress made toward the goal, and 2.) monitor and adjust the goal for student growth.
To document the Mid-Year Goal Reflection process in CFPGS, the teacher will complete two activities housed within the Cy-Fair Professional Growth System (CFPGS):
1. Mid-Year Goal Reflection: Part II-a (located within the Personal Professional Goal-Setting and Mid-Year Goal Reflection container). After completing the Mid-Year Goal Reflection activity, the teacher acknowledges the reflection process.
For guidance, see “A Help Guide for the Mid-Year Goal Reflection: Part II-a” found on the CFPGS Home Page. Additionally, there is a “Helpful Hints” link embedded within the activity itself.
2. Phase 2: Monitor and Adjust Goal for Student Growth (located within the Goal for Student Growth (GSG) Process container). The teacher is asked to record reflections concerning the GSG and to upload an in-progress copy of the Student Growth Tracker as evidence of growth.
For guidance, see “A Help Guide for Phase 2: Monitor and Adjust GSG Reflection” housed under My Appraisal Resources on the CFPGS Home Page
