Middle School Newsletter
November 2021
From the Principal:
Dear Parents,
Happy November to all of our Middle School families. Our students, staff and families are persevering. We continue to navigate best educational practices and offer students an engaging and rigorous school experience.
We want to remind families of a few things:
There are still many families that have not signed off on required forms (Goldenrod paper) that were sent home in the beginning of the school year. This included the Chromebook permission form; the digital citizenship agreement; and the district code of conduct. If you have not, please do so as soon as possible. These forms need to be signed and turned in for the students to use the district owned Chromebooks.
Students may attend 10th period for additional academic support. Late buses will take students home throughout Williamson. There is also an option to stay for support for students who walk or get picked up.
The end of the 1st marking period is November 12th. We encourage students to focus on quality work completion. Please check your child’s Schoology account to review student progress. We will not be sending report cards home at the end of the first marking period – their grades are available in the parent portal. Please contact us if you do not have an account. For those students needing parent – teacher conferences you will be contacted (or contact us if you have any concerns).
Thank you for your continued support.
John E. Fulmer, Principal
Williamson Middle School
From the Assistant Principal:
Greetings from the Assistant Principal,
We are rapidly approaching the end of the first quarter at Williamson Middle School. On Thursday, November 18th, we will be hosting parent teacher conferences. Conference times are 5:30-7:30 pm. Please contact the Williamson Guidance office to schedule a conference. There is an opportunity to meet with your child’s team of teachers or an individual staff member. This is an excellent time to monitor your student’s progress. Our goal is to meet in person, but a Zoom option will be available if needed. As always, if you have any questions, please email or call at (315) 589-9665.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email or call at (315) 589-9665.

From the Health Office:
This fall, with COVID-19 expected to co-circulate alongside influenza, getting an influenza vaccine will be more important than ever.
The 2021 – 2022 Flu Season is upon us. Here is some information you may need to know to help you and your family get through it without complications.
Influenza (flu) can cause mild to severe illness. Flu is different from a cold. Flu usually comes on suddenly. Symptoms include the following:
Fever or feeling feverish/chills
Cough/chest discomfort
Sore Throat
Body aches
Runny or stuffy nose
Headaches
Fatigue (tiredness)
Some people have vomiting or diarrhea, more common in children than adults.
Best way to prevent the flu? Get a yearly flu vaccine and keep your hands clean. If you think you have the flu, see your doctor. Take prescribed medication (usually antivirals); this will make the illness milder and shorten the time you are sick. Best if medication is started within 48 hours of getting sick. Please stay home; you are most contagious in the first 3 to 4 days, and please remember to cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze.
Please contact your Healthcare Provider if you have any questions or concerns.
Also, registration on FamilyID will open on 12/3/2021for Late Winter Sports (Modified Girls Basketball and Modified Cheerleading). Any questions, please feel free to contact the Middle School Health Office.
Please feel free to call the Middle School Health Office if you have any questions or concerns at 315-589-9665 ext. 3520.
Thank you for all you do to help keep our students safe and healthy,
Tammy A. LaBarr, RN
