The Philippines is certainly not a dictatorship, which is good. The economy is certainly better off than many other countries in the world, but it is still improving. The main problem one can see with the economic stats is the poverty rate. They need to fix that poverty problem quickly, as that does not look good, no matter what.

Conclusion on the Philippines
I really like the Philippines after doing extensive research on them. All of their cultural heritages creates a very diverse and robust culture that oozes diversity and creativity. Although they have a long way to go until they become a world superpower, I feel like they will do just fine for now. The Philippines is a wonderful place, and I'd recommend going there over Cuba.
