PRAIRIE POST
September 24, 2018
Message from the Principal
Hello, Parent and Guardians of the Pawsome Pumas,
Last week, we completed our safety Drills at Prairie Elementary School. We held one lock-down drill and two lock-out drills. We make sure to practice our drills in the case of an emergency at Prairie. We take every step possible to ensure the safety of your children and practicing each of these drills assists us with that goal.
The team teaching delivery model that we have implemented this year is heading in the right direction. We have seen higher levels of engagement from our scholars. We have seen a decrease in the number of incident referrals. We look forward to continuing to build upon our success thus far. We have received positive comments about how our environment is creating an inclusive school community.
At the last PTA meeting, I asked the parents to share with me what skills and dispositions you want your son/daughter to develop at Prairie. We will continue this conversation at our next PTA meeting on October 9th. I hope to see you there. If you are unable to attend, please do not hesitate to share your ideas on the following Google Form.
We look forward to another PAWSOME week with our scholars. This is only possible with your support. We are #BetterTogether. Thank you.

Art to Remember
Welcome Back to Prairie! In the Art room we will kick off the year with the Art to Remember program again this year. This program was introduced last year and parents seemed to react positively to it, so we will try it again.
Students at Prairie have already begun working on their masterpiece for this Art to Remember in Art class. Work is then sent in to the Art to Remember company and photographed. A personalized order form is then processed with your child's artwork on it. Personalized order forms will be sent home with students at the end of October. Items can be ordered if you choose. All items will be delivered before the holidays. This is a great way to get unique, personalized holiday gifts and support Prairie's Art program at the same time! More information will be coming home soon. Contact Mrs. Anderson in the Art room if you have questions.
