WHS Weight Room Fundraiser
With the help of our Westwood High School Booster Club acting as the fiscal agent, we are launching a fundraising drive to upgrade our weight-room equipment. We cannot spend Sinking Fund dollars on items such as dumbbells, barbells, squat racks, and the like, so we are going to do this the old-fashioned way by raising some money. We are pursuing grants of course, but every little bit helps. We have set an ambitious goal to raise $20,000 by early September. Donations of all sizes will help us reach our goal.
If you would like to donate to our effort, checks can be made out to the Westwood High School Booster Club and sent to the NICE Community Schools Business Office, 300 Westwood Dr., Ishpeming, MI 49849. Please place Weight Room Upgrades in the memo line. If you have questions please contact Mr. Fossitt at 906.485.1023 or by email at fossittc@nice.k12.mi.us

English Students of the Month are Ethan Ahtonen and Sarina Maki
Ethan is a powerful writer, especially when it comes to his creative writing abilities. Always respectful and engaged in the classroom, he is a strong model for his peers for what it means to create an authentic experience for an audience with writing. He is never afraid to offer up ideas and responses when working collaboratively in small groups and with the whole class, he has a great sense of humor, and he is truly a joy to work with!
Sarina is an English student who always seeks to understand all angles of a text or issue by looking at language and ideas through a strong analytical lens. She reads and writes with passion and creativity, and makes strong efforts to go above and beyond what is expected of her. Not to mention, she has a heart of gold and consistently makes an effort to lead with compassion and kindness both in and out of the classroom.
