Mother's Day Blessing

A mother's hug lasts long after she lets go.

They hold their children's hands for a short while,

but their hearts forever.


To the world they are a mother,

but to their family they are the world.

They are the bank where we deposited all our hurts and worries.


She learned about strength she didn't know she had.

In everything, the most precious jewels she ever have around her neck,

are the arms of her children...

1st Annual Brooklyn Schools Steel Band Jamboree

1st Annual Brooklyn Schools Steel Band Jamboree

On Saturday May 21 Ms. Constantine will lead the students of the Rising Star After-school program who are studying steel pan, as they represent the Langston Hughes School in the 1st Annual Brooklyn Schools Steel Band Jamboree. They will have the chance to share their talent with other schools in Brooklyn who are studying this art form. Please save the date so you can come out to Boys and Girls High School to cheer our students on, and show them how proud we are of their hard work. More details will be posted on Class Dojo next week.

PS 233 had a 4-day Double Good Popcorn virtual fundraiser! I would like to thank each and every one of you who contributed. A special thank you goes out to the families of the following students for hosting their own pop-up store:

Summer Rising

Summer Rising

Registration for Summer Rising continues. The program is free and will run from July 5-August 19. Summer Rising will include academics, social-emotional learning, and enrichment activities for 6 weeks, followed by a 7th week of enrichment activities and trips. Summer Rising will operate Monday to Friday, 8am to 3pm, followed by extended day enrichment until 6pm. If you are interested in having your child attend the Summer Rising program please read the attached summer application family guide and click on the link below.


All you need to register is your child's OSIS number and an email address. The OSIS number is a nine-digit identification number and it can be found on your child's report card or on the NYC Schools Account. If you need any support with completing the online application do not hesitate to contact Ms. Tanisha, the Parent Coordinator. She can be reached Monday-Friday from 7:30am-3:30pm at (516) 519-3812.

Daily Health Screeners

Students must be screened each day before entering the building. The easiest way to do so is to use the digital health screener. You can place it on your phone, or your child's iPad that they use for school. Use the link below to download the NYCDOE Health Screener and save it to your home screen. If for some reason you are unable to download the digital health screener, I am also including a link to the paper screener. Each morning before you leave home you must:


  1. Take your child's temperature.
  2. Log in to the screener. If you don't know your child's credentials yet, log in as a guest or use the paper screener.
  3. Answer the questions.
  4. Click submit.
  5. Show the screener to the staff when you bring your child to school.
